Treat Me Thursday

Hello my Beauties,

this is one of those days, where you simply know, you need a little treat to cheer yourself up, because so much went wrong…
I’m not talking about a huge shopping spread here, but a tiny little mini haul, that can instantly put a smile on your face.

Ok this technic might not be the best pedagogical move, but believe me, when you have to change 4 times the subway line and then somehow manage to take the wrong train (in between of 2 cities), that brings you to a “no name village” and you need about 3 hours to get back to your actual destination…you do deserve a little treat!

So after a long day with a  million of tasks i decided to stop by my big local drugstore and get something, that i was having an eye on for a while (and just a few other things).
Astor lipcolor butter and perfect stay 202 pink with envy nailpolishAny idea what my “center piece” was, that i was having an eye on for a few weeks now?

That’s right – it’s the Astor Soft Sensation Lipcolor Butter, that is really similar to the already so famous Chubby Sticks by Clinique.
I picked the soft pink color in “010 Pink Lady”.
“Astor Soft Sensation Lipcolor Butter is my quick and easy way to perfectly polished lips. I love how the slanted tip gives the precision of a liner for lip definition.
And because the color melts onto lips, I can achieve a brilliantly even finish every time.” – Heidi Klum

The idea behind the product is basically the same as with Clinique. It’s a moisturizing lip balm with different kind of opacity. The lighter colors are more sheer, than the darker ones.

Don’t you think the packaging looks really similar to the Chubby Sticks?! You can also twist the bottom to have access to more product. The difference is that the stick itself is not round, but angular, which remind more of the usual lipstick and makes the application easier in my eyes. I can’t wait to go wild with this lipcolor butter. (Will it have the texture of the Revlon Lip Butters?)
Besides the Astor Soft Sensation Lipcolor Butter cost only 5,85 €  if you compare them to the Clinique Chubby Sticks, which retail for about 20€ – that’s not bad at all.
Astor 010 pink lady, 202 pink with envyIn case you wonder – did she buy a nail polish too? Technically i didn’t. (The usual price of these nail polishes is 4,85€).
But the drugstore had a cool promotion going on. With every Lipcolor Butter you could pick a nail polish from their perfect stay line. Well – i thought i would go pink all the way! This is the 202 Pink With Envy.
They suppose to have a gel shine formula and stay on my nails up to 10 days. So why not!

As you can see, i couldn’t pass by a bar of chocolate with crispies inside and just not get one. 😉 I love a good crunch when it comes to chocolate!
And also to finish of a relaxing evening, i treated myself to a nice paper face mask with algae extract by Balea. If you remember me talking about different kind of face treatments in my last Sunday Read, you know how much i love this kind of relaxation.

So i hope this all will help me to feel refreshed and ready to have a relaxing night.

What are your latest “treat me” – goodies, my Beauties?
Share your little secrets with me.

Until next time – stay beautiful.

Heavenly Goodies or what’s your new nail polish? (swap)

Hello my Beauties,

today i have another really fun post for you. My mail just came in and what did i see: a nice package from The Netherlands.
By the first glance it was clear – Polish Alcoholic send way too much. I knew, that Sabrina – the master mind behind the amazing nail polish & nail design blog Polish Alcoholic – was about to send me something, but i didn’t expect it to be that much.
Especially since a few products aren’t really from a drugstore…

This was actually not part of our Sweet Summer Swap, it just somehow happened that i sent Sabrina the Guerilla Gardening Collection, that she wanted and some other goodies and now she decided to send something back.

First of all let me tell you, how incredibly sweet all the packaging was, when i opened the box. I was facing cute little pink puffy hearts and little marshmallow like filling elements. All the nail polish bottles (of course she sent me nail polishes, what else! ) were carefully put in a pretty tissue paper, that i didn’t even want to rip off.
Polish swap with PolishAlcoholicA big compliment on the lovely and solid business cards, that have a good grip to them & feel really nice between the fingers.
Loved the thoughts you put in there, Sabrina!

Polish Swap with Polish Alcoholic 2Before i reveal the secret of the nail polishes, i will show you the little beauty samples, that Sabrina included into the box.
She knows about my passion for body scrubs, so there is one by Collistar ( heard a few good things about this brand, but haven’t had the chance to try yet), a sample of J’adore by Dior (mmm) and Lancome Teint Visionnaire (can’t wait to see if it fits my skin tone) and the cutest little Mango creamy body wash by Sephora. Love exotic fruits…
Beauty samplesAnd now to the polishes. When i finally ripped off the tissue paper , i was left speechless. There were four beautiful nail polish bottles, but the “high point” was indisputably the wonderful Nfu Oh bottle. Hope you can see the actual details there –  it’s so pretty!
Polish Swap with Polish Alcoholic 3(click to enlarge!)
What can i say?! This is going to be a world premiere (for me) trying all these brands and beautiful colors.

Ciaté is the only brand, that is available here in Germany, but as the big hype was all about their Caviar manicure, i didn’t even realize, they had such pretty shades in their range. The “Regatta 076” seems to be a deep maritim-blue with silver shimmer in it. And the bottle has its specific bow in the front.

Before seeing PicturePolish products on different nail blogs, i didn’t even realize there was that popular australian brand out there.
Love the slogan, that the classic bottle comes with:”Cause every girl need some!” Attitude – by Overall Beauty. That’s pretty stylish. And what can i say, it’s a beautiful “midnight purple” in my eyes, with different kind of dazzling & holographic particles in it.
Here is another PicturePolish in Paradise, that Sabrina swatched on her blog, and i think the quality seems to be promising.

BerryM in lilac 235 is my very first polish from that famous british brand. Funny fact:
tweetProbably Sabrina was right saying that. I love my metallic polishes, i think they suit my personality, if that makes sense…

And last, but ohhh most definitely not least – meet the beautiful Nfu Oh nail lacquer in 45.
You can see in Sabrina’s post, where she swatched a really similar color in 44 (Nfu Oh #44 – Shiney Opal), how wonderful it looks over different kind of polishes. Especially over a black one. This is going to be my “shine bright like a diamond” polish for hot summer days. 🙂 I literally can’t wait!
Polish Swap with Polish Alcoholic 4Thank you very much, dear Sabrina for your effort to make this swap such a lovely experience for me. I do appreciate the chance to try all these new brands & textures. I hope i was able to show my real excitement.

There you go my Beauties, remember i told you i was in a Swap fever!? 😉
Did you do any lovely swap’s lately?
I’ll be posting the wrap-up post on the Sweet Summer Swap next week, so stay tuned for that.
Please check out Sabrina’s blog for more amazing nail polish swatches, brand recommendations and nail art tutorials.

Until next time – stay beautiful.

May Photo a Day challenge – Day 14 (FMSphotoaday – Need)

Hello my Beauties,

what a stormy day it is…i’m wondering if the spring is thinking about staying at all this year…it seems to be so inconsistent these weeks.

Anyhow, today is Day 14 of our May Photo a Day challenge and the topic is: “Need“.
14. Need: What’s a need in your life? – asks the creator of this challenge Fat Mum Slim.

Of course, i could have gone all philosophical here, talking about the big needs in life, such as love, health and knowledge and maybe simply the roof over your head.
But let’s remind ourselves, that this is still a beauty blog and this challenge suppose to be fun – so my “need” is going to be more of a “want – need”, if you know what i mean. 😉
Meet my absolute “beauty need” – the glorious nail polishes by the german brand P2 cosmetics.
May photo a day challenge - day 14 P2 nailpolishesIf you follow my blog for a while now, you will know that i do own nail polishes by different kind of brands, from very cheap to more expensive ones. You have also seen me raving about P2 for a few times now, but only because i do like the quality, that you get for a really affordable drugstore price.

Right now there are a few lines, that P2 has on the market, such as the Color Victim (pretty expressive colors), Volume Gloss (shiny & glossy texture – smilar to BarryM Gelly line), Stand Style, Summer Attack (hot metallics – limited edition) and the Perfect Look (nail care polishes).
Some of you were able to try these polishes as well, either through a giveaway, that i was holding or a parcel swap and every time i got a great feedback.
Have to admit, i’m very pleased to have a solid drugstore brand, that can hold up to the expensive high-end polishes.

So my “need” is first of all to always have a neat and well-done manicure and secondly to have some great P2 colors to choose from. 🙂

What is your “need”, my dear readers? To stay with the nail polish theme: do you have a drugstore favorite, that has become your go-to brand? Share your secrets with me.

Until next time – stay beautiful!

ps: If you want to participate in the Sweet Summer Swap – there is still time to sign up. Check it out now.

Tempting Thursday Treats

Hello my Beauties,

how have you been my dear readers? Hope it’s finally spring everywhere. We have been waiting for it way too long this time around, don’t you think? We’re having wonderful sunny day’s and i’m trying to spend more and more time outside.

Life have been busy over the past weeks and so i’m trying to give myself little treats in-between, to make myself feel better and besides, don’t we all deserve some sweet treats from time to time? 😉

Today it was time for something yammy and sweet again. So i decided to share them in a post with you.
And that’s what made my day this thursday:
Tempting thusrday treats yves rocher pomeranate shower gel, Ps nals polish, jelly bellys, revlon cherry tart1) Yves Rocher Energizing Shower Gel – Spanish Pomegranate: smells like a fresh delicious fruit (Its formula contains more than 90% natural ingredients! Easily biodegradable formula / Paraben free, 8.4 fl.oz. / 250 ml) and makes me want to have that shower as soon as possible. This is definitely one of my all time favorites. I guess i love pomegranates in almost every possible product.

2) P2 Sand Style polish – 040 illegal: Those sand nails have been very popular during the past few month’s all over the world (also known as Liquid Sand by OPI or PixieDust by Zoya) and the hype came into our local german drugstores in form of P2 sand style line. Almost everywhere they were immediately sold out, which shows again, how big the hype is and how good the formula seems to be.
I already had another one from this line, which i swatched in this post and i can’t wait to paint my nails in this beautiful berry-red color. (I’ve seen it on the nails of my friend and it definitely looks like you have little strawberries on your nails.) I mean, how cute is that during spring?!

3) Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter – 070 Cherry Tart: Like all the other Lip Butters, it has a very smooth, creamy, hydrating formula.
I enjoy wearing the shade Cherry Tart, since it’s very buildable and looks great on my pale skin. I would say, together with Cotton Candy, this one is one of my favorites from the whole Lip Butter line. What’s yours?

4) And of course my feel good treat for tonight is the mix of yammy jelly bellys, that i picked out myself. Lot’s of fun red’s and oranges with the flavors of strawberry & pomegranate…how suiting, don’t you think??
I know my friend Donah the SweetJellyBean is going to especially like this one.

What are your mid-week treats? What makes you feel good, when you are busy with work or school?

Share your secrets with me and until next time, don’t forget to stay beautiful!

NOTD + Featured nail art + mini Giveaway (closed)

Hello my Beauties,

how are you doing?
Today’s post has 3 different parts, that i’m sure you are going to like. So grab your favorite cup of tea & let’s begin.

By the end of march my Twitter friend Radi and i have decided to do a little nail polish swap. As Radi lives in Bulgaria she was kind enough to offer me some of the polishes that are being sold there & i on my part of course picked out a few german based brands for her.
You can see her post on the swap HERE. She also did a beautiful design with the KIKO Sugar matt, that was originally the idea for a swap.

Today i got the parcel from Bulgaria and obviously couldn’t wait to try some of the sparkling goodies, that i’ve found inside.
Perfect nail polish, Golden Rose jolly jewels 103I tried my best to take a few good pictures in today’s horrible light, but the gloomy & grey weather didn’t make it easier for me. I really hope you get the idea anyways.
golden rose jolly jewels 103, perfect nail polish nail designAs you can see the “Perfect” base coat appears much more purplish in the flash light.
The Jolly Jewels polish has quite a thick consistency and is really opaque in just one coat.
golden rose jolly jewels 103, perfect nail polish bulgarian brandIn this shot the “shiny jewels” are much more noticeable & visible. They have a lovely rose gold shimmer to it.
I really like how the two polishes became one mani. Now i’m really curious for how long it’s going to stay on my nails.
Have you tried any of these polishes yet?

As the second part of the post i would like to share with you Radi’s guest post with you. I asked her to do a nice & fun spring nail art and she did a really great job, if you ask me. But see for yourself and don’t forget to visit her blog, to see more great swatches and design ideas.

Featuring Sabrina and a Spring Manicure

Hello my Beauties,

it’s weekend. Let’s celebrate with a fun fresh and very much spring inspired manicure.
Today i would love you to meet my sweet blogging buddy Sabrina from Polish Alcoholic. I got to know her in the very beginning of my blogging days and she has always been a very supportive person, with a great attitude and not to mention the most well taken care of nails i have seen in a long time.
I asked Sabrina to do a step-by-step tutorial on a simple & sweet nail design and this is what she came up with:

Hello everyone.

My name is Sabrina, a 27 years young girl from The Netherlands.
I have a serious addiction, an addiction to nail polish. I can’t help myself 😉 I love to collect them and I’m constantly on the ‘haunt’ for my lemmings that are mostly hard to find and/or discontinued.

I am so honored that the sweetest Luchessa is willing to dedicate a little space of her amazing blog to me. Thanks dear! *mwah*

Even though it’s still rainy, grey and even snowy outside… I created a Spring themed mani for you beauties.
Let’s get started!

Spring manicure by Polish AlcoholicThe tool’s you are going to need:

– large dotting tool
– medium striper
– Butter London “Jasper”
– Zoya “Blu”
– Zoya “Purity”
– WIC “Minsk”
– OPI “Forrest My Case”
OPI ZOYA Butter London nail polishes for spring manicure

First design:

When your base coat is dry, paint your nails white and let it dry completely.

Use a medium striper with a green polish to create blades of grass.

Make sure the tip of the nail is covered with ‘grass’. Then create a little bit depth by slightly ‘swiping’ a lighter green polish on and between the darker green polish.

Create two tiny ‘leaves’ by using a medium striper and dark and lighter green polish. Give the design a bit time to dry and add a top coat.

Second design:

When your base coat is dry, paint your nails light/pastel blue and let it dry completely.

Use a white polish and a medium striper to create a cross.

Repeat step 6 so that you’ll get a ‘star’.

Gently fill in the spaces between the white lines.

Create a big yellow dot with your largest dotting tool and wait for the design to dry.
Use a top coat to get a smooth finish 🙂
Nail art tutorial spring manicureAfter finishing all those steps, your manicure should look something like that.
Spring manicure with Polish AlcoholicFeel free to stop by and leave a comment.

Beauties, i don’t know about you, but i feel like painting my nails now 😉 Since not everyone has many nails art tools at home, this is a cute design that you can even create with a thin nail polish brush, so just give it a try!!
I hope you visit Sabrina’s blog or connect with her on
Twitter.

Until next time, stay beautiful.

NOTW – P2 Sand Style 060 strict

Hello my Beauties,

how was your weekend?

Tonight i’m sharing with you a quick Nail Of The Week, with a short review and swatches.
You know what a big hype the sand style polishes made in the past month’s. Not only high-end brands came out with the textured polishes, or Liquid Sand, as they are also called, but also drugstore lines seem to jump on the trend train.

A few weeks ago the german brand P2 announced the launch of their sand style polish collection.
And as you imagine, i was very excited to get one of those to try.
What i’m wearing today is the P2 Sand Style in Nr. 060 strict
P2 Sand Style Polish 060 strictColor & Finish: It’s a dark, sparkly purple-ish silver with small and big hex glitter. The finish is gravelly and matte, but because of all the glitter, it still looks sparkly. (I hope it makes sense…)

Application & Opacity: Not streaky at all. Already one coat gives a really nice look, but it’s still a little too light. To make sure it’s an even surface, i would always apply the second coat, to also make the color more luscious. (As it also says on the bottle.)

Drying time: The polish didn’t take long at all to dry. After the first coat i probably waited 4-5 minutes and then applied the second one. After 10 minutes it was completely dry.

Price: 11ml coast 1,95 € in the local drugstore. (I’d say, not a bad price at all.)
P2 Sand Style polish 060 strict
I have to say, i’m quite pleased with the look of the polish on my hands. I will also admit, that the finish feels very unusual and i might be putting a clear polish on tomorrow, but i will definitely give it a try and wear this sand style polish by itself first.

It’s a really wearable color, even if it has so many sparkles and has therefore a fancy side to it.

Now i’m just curious how easy it’s going to be to get this polish of my nails again. Keep your fingers crossed, it’s easier than the regular glitter polishes…
How do you like the color and the look of sand style polishes in general? Have you tried any yet? Let me know.

Until next time – stay beautiful.

Beauty Blogger Tag!

Hello my Beauties,

how is your friday going so far? Hope you’ve started making plans for the weekend…

If you follow my blog for some time, you might have noticed how much i like all the fun beauty related tag’s, as it’s a great way to get to know the person behind the actual blog and get a sneak peek behind the curtains.
Today i found another Beauty Blogger Tag over at The Fashionista Observer and decided to share it with you.

Beauty Blogger Tag with Luchessa

   1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight? It’s something in between. Rather straight, but a little curly on the ends.

  1. What’s your natural hair color? A dark brown.
  1. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon? I don’t dye my hair at all, it’s quite sensitive to all the chemical stuff, so i try to stay away from anything, that would make me lose my hair.
  1. Do you wear the same style every day or do you change it? In my daily life i tend to wear same style, just because I have to wear certain things at work.
On the weekends or on special occasion though, i try to work my other – the more fancy side and wear something fun with nice statement jewelry.
  1. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon? I definitely do my own mani and pedi, since it literally calms me down and is so much fun, that i just enjoy taking this time and pamper myself.
  1. How often do you change your nail polish? Mostly ones a week.  It really depends on the circumstances. If i really get into the experimental mood, i change it every 3-4 days.
  1. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer? My toes are painted all year round. Never a bright color. Over the winter some kind of french or pinkish nude and over the summer some light metallic color, that goes with any type of shoes.
    Catrice Just married, Browno Mars
  1. How long does it take for you to put on your makeup? I would say i need my 20 minutes. Even if i’m really quick with doing my whole face, i like to take my time with the application.
And let’s be honest, for special occasions, like a birthday party or a date, we all love to spend like 2 hours trying things out and get the best result possible, right? 😉
  1. What do you do first, face or eyes? I always do my foundation first, along with concealer if needed. Then comes powder, blush and (bronzer or) highlighter. And i do my eyes last. 🙂
  1. Do you “collect” makeup or just buy what you need when you need it? A little bit of both probably. As a beauty blogger i like to stay up to date and see what kind of new innovative products are out there, but i never buy a type of product, that i never use for that purpose. Lately i treated myself with nail polishes only.
  1. How often do you wear false eye lashes? As i have very sensitive eyes, when it comes to “foreign bodies” – that’s why i could never wear contacts – I don’t wear false eye lashes, unless it’s for a photo shooting or a professional makeup session.
  1. Do you do a full face of makeup every day? It really depends on the condition of my skin at that moment. If i feel, like my canvas is looking quite good, i don’t do my foundation or concealer, i just grab my favorite powder and apply some blush for a fresh look. But what i always do is my eyes, since i feel like it makes my face look much more awake. Mascara is a must!
  1. Do you wear makeup when you are home alone, or with family? No i don’t. The only thing i use, is a good face moisturizer and a nice lip balm.
Burt's Bees lip balm, Eisenberg Fluid Cream
  1. Will you leave the house without makeup? I can totally do that, but the thing is, i like playing with my makeup way too much, to miss the opportunity of  putting something on, when going out. 😉 I guess you get the picture.
  1. How many high-end products do you have? I would say i mostly use drugstore to mid-range products, but probably 1/4 of my whole collection is high-end.
  1. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you are getting dressed? I usually plan my special occasion outfits quite a bit, coordinating it by color and style, but my daily outfits are mostly something i decide to wear spontaneously.
  1. How often do you change your handbag? My every day bag goes with almost everything, it’s a versatile one. But when i go out on weekends i like having a small clutch with me, that’s when i change my bags the most.
  1. What time do you get up and go to sleep? When i get up at 7am, i’m usually in bed around midnight, but when i have day’s where i get the chance to sleep longer, i’m not up until 11am and obviously not sleeping until 2am…actually i’m a night owl.
  1. How often or when do you work out? I have to confess, i’m not really a sports person. Every now and then i do some yoga, but it only happens ones or twice a month.
  1. Left handed or right-handed? Right-handed.
  1. How tall are you? I’m a petit woman, around 5’2.
  1. Do you speak a foreign language? I do speak 4 languages quite well, such as German, Russian, Spanish and English.
  2. How many pets do you have? I don’t have any pet’s, but i always wanted a dog.
  1. How often are you on blogger? (or your other blog platform) I usually check my WordPress every day, but post around 3 times a week, sometime even more often!!!
  1. Do you read comments posted on blogs? Yes, i always do, as i love to interact with my readers and fellow bloggers.
  1. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts? Yes i do. I even have a small book, where i write my post ideas down.
  1. How did you come up with your blog name?
I came up with “Beauty expression”, as i like to express myself about all things, that make us women beautiful, and that’s not only makeup.
  1. What kind of camera do you use for photographs? I use my beloved Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7.
  1. How often do you clean your house? Ones a week a little bit everywhere and another time a serious cleaning on weekends.
  1. What is your favorite color? I wear mostly purple, blues and reds in my free time. As i have to wear black for work, i tend to grab a fun color, when i go out.
  1. Do you swear? On rare occasions…you know sometimes it expresses just the best, how you feel…
But i do remind myself to be a lady normally. 🙂
  1. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
After work i like to relax, read the comments on my blog and answer your emails.
In the evenings, a cup of tea and a movie is just the best relaxation for me.

I hope you had fun reading this tag, my Beauties. You are all welcome to do it as well!!
I would like to tag a few of my fellow beauty bloggers and hope to read their answers soon. 🙂

Pretty in Pink
