Four Favorite Things in May – FMSphotoaday Day 31

Hello my Beauties,

happy friday and happy end of may to all of you. I can’t believe that it’s actually almost june (and hopefully summer) and also that our may challenge is now over.
I’m very proud of everyone, who managed to get through this May Photo a Day Challenge (but also the Blogging Every Day in May) and really sticking to it  – which would include myself as well. The encouraging words on Twitter & email definitely helped!

So today is Day 31 and the topic is: “Four things“.
31. Four things: Choose four things and take a photo. They can be anything.

As a reader of a beauty & lifestyle blog you might already know, that by the end of a month we usually like to talk about the most used beauty products and why we loved them so much.
So in the best tradition – here are my Four May Favorites.
Four Favorite beauty things in MayLet me start by saying, that besides the Naked palette and my NYX high-definition eye shadow base, these were definitely the four most-reached products of May.
So what are they exactly and why did i enjoy using them so much?

1) NYC Color Wheel Mosaic Face Powder in 725A Rose Glow is a light weight products, that can be used as powder or blush. It gives an incredibly nice rose glow on your cheeks and since i’m so fair-skinned, i can even use it for contouring my face, which makes the product really multifunctional.

The powder consists of  4 different colors, from light to dark. Some are matt and others are bit shimmery.
Of course the packaging is a little of a down point here, since it’s not really pretty or sturdy and will probably not survive a fall on a hard ground.
But on the other hand in doesn’t cost the world – around $4.99 and it also comes in other shades, like Bronze Glow, Translucent Highlighter Glow, Pink Glow. So there’s something for everybody.

2) Lip balm Papaya by Greenland is a natural lip balm with cocoa butter, jojoba oil and shea butter.
Greenland is a dutch brand, that exists since 1990 and uses only raw materials for their bath and skin care products.

The papaya lip balm (3,9 g – 4,95 €) doesn’t have any paraffin and mineral oils in it, that for it doesn’t dehydrate your lips, which would make you want to apply even more and more balm every time ( that’s the addictive effect ). The packaging has a quite cool metal look to it, which makes it stand out from the usual lip balms in my eyes.

I find the scent to be fruity & balmy. I wouldn’t really say it smells like a real papaya though, but it’s still a nice smell and doesn’t irritate my sensitive nose (especially when it comes to lipsticks & balms).
What i prefer to do is to apply the balm right in the beginning of putting on my makeup and by the moment i use lipstick, my lips had enough time to get some hydration and my lips look a lot smoother.

3) Volume Effect Faux Cils Luxury Volume Mascara in 4 Fascinating Violet is one of my all time favorites, when it comes to mascara, especially the colored ones. This is probably my third YSL purple mascara.
I love the traditional brush and the length of it (not too big & not too small). I also like how my rather dark lashes get that nice purple look, without being too bright and totally out there. Makes any daily look a class of it’s own. By getting a second layer on, you can even create that “B A M” – effect.

It separates the lashes nicely, doesn’t smudge and gives great volume. And what i especially like, is the fact that i don’t see any “fall outs” in the evening, after wearing the mascara all day. (Don’t we all hate that?!)
Of course it’s one of those luxury products, where every girl has to decide if $30.00 for a YSL mascara is a good investment or not.
I stand by my treat for a few years now and didn’t regret it yet.

4) Wisteria by Crabtree & Evelyn is a nice Floral fragrance, that has been on the market since 2003. (30ml – $25.00)
The fragrance features wisteria, lily, violet, gardenia, ylang-ylang, mandarin orange, pear and white musk. To me it’s a fresh and floral, spring & summer scent, that comes across even a little powdery. It appears to be clean & innocent if that makes sense.
Love the wisteria & violet accents in the fragrance.

I prefer using eau de toilette instead of the actual perfume, since i like scents to be light and not lasting for over 3-4 hours. But i guess that is just my personal preference.
You might have noticed i  like Crabtree & Evelyn a lot ( i talked about this scent before HERE ), as there is always something slightly distinctive and sophisticated about their scents and skin care products.

These are my monthly beauty favorites. What have you been using mostly during may? Tell me about it by leaving a comment or a link to your blog posts!

Until next time – stay beautiful!

ps: If anyone like to participate in the Jule Photo a Day Challenge – HERE is where you find the needed information.

ps2: Just got the notification, that i’ve been featured in a {Feature Friday} post! How unexpected was that!!

Sunday Read

Hello my Beauties,

welcome to my weekly “Sunday Read,
where i share with you some of my favorite blog posts, that caught my eye during the past week.
In case you don’t know those bloggers or simply didn’t have time to read their posts, this is your chance to catch up on different subjects! Hope you enjoy!
sunday read by LuchessaYou can always go ahead and take part in this sunday read event.
The rules are very simple:
Pick out some of your most favorite posts written by other bloggers and tell me why you picked them.

Then all you need to do is to link up down below.

My treasures this week:

1) I know we ALL are looking for that one great mascara, that is going to make out lashes super long, curly and full like a fan.
But as everyone has different kind of lashes, it’s hard to tell whether it’s going to work for you, if it’s working for me.
But every now and then a good tip can make your decision easier what to look for.

Tina from What Tina Loves discovered Maybelline The Hyper Curl Volum’ Express Mascara and shared in a review her thoughts on a product, that seems to actually do what it claims to. (We know it’s not always the case!)

2) Let’s stay with the Mascara-theme for a moment. Some of you might know, how much i love using blue, green or purple mascara. Mostly for my lower lashes, to spice up a toned down eye look.
So when i discovered Jacqueline from A Brilliant Brunette and her recent makeup look wearing a bold & bright sky blue mascara from CK One, (CK One Mascara in Electrify) i thought YES, i’d have done the same thing.

That’s a great look for spring time, that will make your eyes pop.

3) Let’s be honest. Everyone loves Freebies. Especially when you’re a beauty junkie and there are free beauty items to have! You simply need to know how and where to get them. Ange from Hairspray and Highheels wrote down a few ideas on where to hunt for beauty and entertainment goodies in a How To Get Products For Free post. Keep in mind, that most ideas in her post can be applied in the United States, but i’m pretty sure each country has their own “Sephoras” and different kind of “coupon systems”, so just keep your eyes open.

4) By now everyone knows how important it is to keep our skin moisturized, so finding your most suitable (facial) cream became one of the goals, when it comes to cosmetics.
Stacey from Beautiful Solutions shared her thought & experience on expensive (eye) creams vs. affordable ones.
She talks about studies on the effects of creams from different price ranges. I thought it was a good reminder to really read what’s on the ingredients list, when buying a new product in general, since most of the times the expensive items don’t carry a “magic solution” in them and your drugstore product will leave your skin fresh & moisturized just as good.

I agree with Stacey’s verdict, that it’s always worth to invest in a solid eye (or facial) cream, but the key is to find what works for you & your age and your skin type, instead of running after brands and internet hype of them.

Please link up and let’s all benefit from it.

Until next time – stay beautiful!

Tarte 100% Pure Maracuja Oil Roller Ball – first impression

Hello my Beauties,

it’s finally friday again. We all should be doing something fun tonight, like a nice gathering with friends for a night out in the city or a girls night in, with great movies and manicure. What are you up to?

Today i would like to talk about a product, that i recently discovered, thanks to my friend Irene, the lovely Pinkiecharm on youtube. She’s got always the best news for what’s good & exciting on the market, i have to say.
So, Let’s talk Tarte 100% Pure Maracuja Oil Roller Ball.

TARTE 100% Pure Maracuja Oil Rollerball

Tarte 0.60-fl-oz / 18 ml 100% pure Maracuja Oil roller ball. Made in Brazil; Filled in USA

Available in http://tartecosmetics.com / http://www.qvc.com / http://www.sephora.com
Price: $17.00
According to Tarte Cosmetics: This earth-prescribed, powerful treatment oil targets individual skin concerns while deeply moisturizing and nourishing skin. Pure, undiluted & cold pressed, it restores skin balance to aid in skin recovery and rejuvenation. Rich in Vitamin C and nutritious essential fatty acids, this precious harvest from the Amazon awakens skin for a healthy, radiant complexion. This anti-aging elixir provides instant hydration—quenching dry skin with no greasy or filmy feel. Discover firmer, brighter, smoother looking skin with tarte.

Research results:
In a 6 week consumer use study:
-96% of women saw an overall visible improvement in skin
-91% of women saw a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles
-94% of women saw a visible improvement in skin texture
-94% of women thought skin appeared renewed and rejuvenated.
Well, we shall see that…

What it does NOT contain:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Synthetic Fragrances
– Petrochemicals
– Phthalates
– GMOs
– Triclosan

Application (direction on the bottle): Apply oil on the go directly on face and neck for immediate hydration.

Packaging: I mean let’s take a moment to observe this packaging. How nicely is this bottle made!? I really like those details on the lid! The color combination of purple and gold is just so festive. Besides that, having a rich undiluted & cold pressed maracuja oil in a glass bottle, instead of a plastic one, keeps the product much longer fresh and gives it over all a luxurious appearance.

My general thoughts: I have been using the maracuja oil for a little bit over a week now. It’s way too little time to say anything about the long-term effects, but what i can say for sure is, that i enjoy the general idea of roller balls, when it comes to skin care products, such as the under eye serums for brightening the area or fluids to even out the small wrinkles on the forehead.
It should also be mentioned, that because of that handy packaging it’s great for carrying in your makeup bag on the go.
tarte 100% Pure Maracuja Oil roller ballThis maracuja oil has almost no scent, at least nothing i would really call noticeable.
It feels much lighter on my skin, than the Moroccan Argan Oil by Shea Terra Organics (which i like for the effect, but definitely not for the scent) or the coconut oil.
I have a few dry patches around my mouth and my nose, usually during the cold time of the year, and as it’s still winter here, the maracuja oil came really handy.

I mostly use it for those spots, but also instead of a night cream for all over my face. It’s really refreshing after i take my makeup off in the evening.
A little bit goes a long way, so you don’t really need much of the oil to hydrate your face.
It absorbs really fast and doesn’t leave greasy spots on your pillow, which was my concern, as i’m using it mostly during the evenings.
I did not get any redness from the product, nor has it made me break out.

It’s really nice to know, you are using a natural product, without many additional ingredients and it really makes your skin feel soft, look even and moisturized. And i have to admit, it looks gorgeous on my vanity. What a design!
tarte 100% Pure Maracuja Oil roller ball
So i would say, if you’re someone who’s currently looking for a new oil to try, this would be a great pick. Don’t worry, if you have a rather oily skin, it won’t let you feel greasy or be heavy on your face. Give it a try!
I’m happy, i have so much left, i’ll be using the product for a few more month’s.

What are your thoughts on natural oil’s in general? Have you tried the Tarte Maracuja oil before? Which is your favorite oil to use?

Share your secrets with me!

Until next time – stay beautiful!

Marvelous March Favorites

Hello my Beauties,

happy Easter to all of you. Hope you’re enjoying your family time.

It’s the end of march and that means, it’s time for my Marvelous March Favorites.

Luchessa's Marvelous March favoritesThese are the products i was reaching the most for during march, which doesn’t mean i neglected my February Favorites.
Still loving & using them too.

1) Victoria’s Secret  – Bombshell.
A beautiful fragrance, that as far as i know came out in the fall of 2010 and has been a big hit ever since. It’s a really devine scent, not overpowering like some other fragrances, but definitely one that stays on for some time.

According to Victoria’s Secret official homepage, Bombshell has a glamorous blend of purple passion fruit, Shangri-la yellow peony and vanilla orchid.
I’m not really sure which part i like the best, but it’s probably the purple passion fruit. Doesn’t it sound sexy?!

I got only the mini version of the perfume, but i know i will get the full size, ones i’m finished with it.
And maybe even the Bombshell Body Mist. I guess it would go very well in combination… from day time to night time.
Has anyone tried the body mist? Or do you prefer the actual perfume?
March Favorites Victoria's Secret Bombshell

2) Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Luster in Glisten.
Available in tartecosmetics.com / sephora.com
Price: $24.00
According to Tarte Cosmetics: As a follow up to tarte’s best-selling LipSurgence™ lip tints, these shimmering lip lusters give  lips a high dose of color and shine in an easy twist-up stick.
Thanks to my lovely friend Irene, who lives in the States, i was able to try this particular product and was impressed with how moist my lips felt.

Glisten is a light peach & shimmery lip tint, that you simply use as a chubby stick. You don’t even need to sharpen it, you just twist it up when you need more, so that makes this product so convenient on the go.

It contains great natural ingredients, like vitamins C, peppermint and soybean oils. The peppermint oil in it made my lips tingle a little, but had no plumping effect (which i don’t like anyway) and it didn’t irritate my sensitive lips and skin.

Of course it should be mentioned, that this lip tint, as all Tarte products, are paraben, phthalate, sodium lauryl sulfate, and cruelty-free.
It’s definitely not a cheap item to have in your purse, but as we know most organic cosmetics lines always cost more, than usual.
I guess if you care about what kind of ingredients you are putting on your face, you wont mind spending a bit more for a quality product.
Have you used any Tarte Cosmetics before?
march favorites tarte lipsurgence glisten

3) Wet ‘n’ Wild Comfort Zone Eyeshadow Palette.
Available in Drugstore.com

Price: $4.99
It’s a great earth-toned palette that contains eight eyeshadows with simply amazing color payoff. The texture is smooth and the color are very blendable. I don’t see fall outs throughout the day, the colors are staying in place.
I know when it first came to the stores, it was sold out almost on the first day. Not only because the colors are great dupes for higher end shadows, like MAC Ricepaper, MAC Smut,  Urban Decay Lounge,  Milani Melange…

I’m using the lighter colors for my every day look, mostly the eyelid & crease colors from the left row. (Can you tell by the little gap?)
What’s your favorite Wet ‘n’ Wild palette?
March Favorites Wet ‘n’ Wild Confort Zone 738

4) Moroccanoil Hand Cream.
Available in moroccanoil.com
Price: $18.00 for 2.5oz / 75ml

According to the official site: This highly concentrated yet weightless cream instantly absorbs into dry hands.
Antioxidant rich argan oil along with cocoa, shea and avocado butters repairs and protect.
Your hands will be left soft, supple and softly fragranced.

While MoroccanOil has made a big name with the hair oil, their hand cream isn’ts that popular on blogs and over on youtube channels. I was lucky enough to get my hands on this product and felt in love immedeatelly. It was hard not to.
The hand cream smells fresh, instantly moisturizes my skin and definitely leaves my hands soft for hours. It doesnt feel sticky at all, but you can tell it’s highly hydrating

When it comes to the effect, i would compair it to the Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream, which is another favorite of mine since 2012.
If you want to invest in a really good solid hand cream, this would be a really good choice.
What Moroccanoil products do you love the most?
March Favorites Moroccanoil Hand CreamThat’s all for my march favorites.

Let me know what your monthly favorites are and if you did a blog post, share your link.

Until next time – stay beautiful!

Featuring Rebecca and the Power of Cleansers

Hello my Beauties,

how are you doing these days? I hope everyone is about to enjoy a long weekend.

Today i would like you to meet a great beauty blogger: Rebecca from The Lipstick Gal.

As her blog name probably tells, she writes not only about different kind of cosmetics, accessories and nail polishes, but she is a huge lipstick fan and goes with a great motto through the day:
“When All Else Fails, Wear More Red Lipstick”. I’m sure if you ever had any “how to wear red lipstick best” questions, you will find the answers on Rebecca’s blog.
I asked her to write a guest post on her favorite facial cleansers, as this is still the time of the year, when we should take good care of our skin. And this was the result.

Hello everyone

I accidentally fell into beauty blogging. I didn’t mean to. I really did it as a way of encouraging myself to be more proactive about my physical appearance. What I didn’t expect was the amazing community of beauty bloggers I would encounter.
Today I’m very pleased to write this guest post for the amazing Luchessa! I’ve always enjoyed reading her posts, and am honored to write one for her blog.

Cleansing is one of my least favorite things to do. I’ve done my best to make it easy for myself. I’ve given myself permission to splurge on skin care items.
Last summer I purchased a Clarisonic face brush. It’s really changed the way my skin feels. I no longer get dry patches in the winter, and I don’t need to do exfoliating treatments once a week. My skin feel more balanced, and healthy. I know they’re expensive, but its an investment truly worth making. I only use my Clarisonic once a day in the shower.
Clarisonic face brushSeveral months ago I received a 2 ounce sample (59 mL) of DDF Brightening Cleanser in the mail from my sample subscription service Birchbox. I’m just about to finish up this sample, but I love how this face wash has worked for me.
It specifically works to lighten hyper-pigmentation spots.
I do have some freckles and larger hyper-pigmentation spots on my face, and it’s nice to have a cleanser that addresses those problems in the shower.

This cleanser foams up quite a bit, so I only need a small amount on my Clarisonic brush every morning.
It’s lasted me quite a while. I’m about to need a larger bottle.
DDF BRIGHTENING CLEANSERMoisturizing and putting on makeup has always been the easy part. Taking it all off at the end of the day is the hard part.
I’ve been wearing makeup for 24 years. For many of those years, I would just plop into bed without removing my makeup.
Terrible, I know…
In the past 5 years I’ve been making a concerted effort to remove my makeup and apply a night cream before bedtime.
I’d say it’s gotten a lot easier once I found
Boscia’s Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil.
I was introduced to this as a 2 ounce sample (59 mL) from Ulta. I have since moved on to the full size bottle.
Boscia MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing OilMy favorite way to use it, is to take half a pump and spread it between two hands. I start applying it to my dry face just below my orbital sockets, then take it up to my eyebrows.
I don’t want to get the majority of it directly on my eyelids, or I could get some in my eyes. So I start by spreading some of it around my eye area.
By this time, I can start applying it to my eyelids. I find that the oil keeps my fingers from creating friction and pulling my skin. The longer I massage the cleansing oil to my eyelids, the more I feel my mascara and eye makeup break down.
Once I don’t feel anymore eye makeup on my lids or lashes, I run my hands over the rest of my face to break down the foundation and powder I’ve been wearing all day.
Now, you can either splash with water or use a wet wash cloth.
I prefer a wash cloth because every time I splash with water I find that I get water everywhere. I also find that a wash cloth makes sure I clean up all the corners of my eyes.

I know the idea of a cleaning your face with an oil seems counter intuitive, but it’s really amazing.
It leaves my face feeling soft, and from start to finish, it only takes 60 seconds. I haven’t found a faster way to clean my face at night without getting myself all wet.
clarisonic DDF Boscia cleansers                                    (Images taken from the official sites)
I do have many other cleansing items in my arsenal, but these are just three of my favorites. What are you using these days to take it all off? Is there a product you swear by? I’m always on the lookout for something amazing.

Thanks again Luchessa for the chance to write this post for your blog!

That’s all for today, my Beauties. I recommend to stop by Rebecca’s blog and chat with her on Twitter.
Don’t forget to say HI from me.

Until next time – stay beautiful!

PS: Of course don’t forget to stop by my current Surprising Spring Giveaway. 😉

Review: GloMinerals – Mini Eye Shadow Quad Cleo

Hello my Beauties,

it’s finally weekend again. I bet we all need some serious relaxation…

I had the pleasure of testing the Mini Eye Shadow Quad in Cleo by GloMinerals,
that was in my Pink Box back in december 2012.
As you see, i really took 3 month to play with the mini palette, to really give you my opinion on it.
And let me tell you already – i’m loving it.
Cleo Mini Eye Shadow Quad GloMineralsAbout GloMinerals:
GloMinerals is actually a skin care company, that has also a variety of makeup and eyeshadows.
Their cosmetics are award-winning mineral formulations that nurture, protect and heal the skin while providing flawless coverage and fabulous color palettes. GloMinerals uses only pharmaceutical-grade ingredients and are entirely talc-free. Their skin care products are advanced formulations that work systematically to support skin health and treat skin concerns.

About Mini Eye Shadow Quad in Cleo:
As you know i have rather oily eyelids, so i’m usually very sceptical, when it comes to new eyeshadow and their texture.
Sometime it can be a real challenge to find the right type of shadows, that won’t crease on my eyes after an hour.
When i tried this quad for the first time, i noticed how smooth the application was and how little product i needed to get the true color on my lid. I really like the fact, that they go on quite opaque, but don’t make any problems when it comes to blending.

This quad contains the colors: sand, desert rose, kohl and indigo.
There are 3.36g/0.132oz of the product and the quad retail for $20.00 on the official site.
The texture is very silky and smooth. Three of the four colors have a nice shimmer and the remaining one is matte, which is really nice in my opinion to also have a matte shadow in a quad (or palette), in case you want to create a light wearable eye look.
I love how dusty & smoky, but still very “appropriate for daytime” my eyes look when i’m only wearing “desert rose” & “kohl” together.
GloMinerals Cleo Mini Eye Shadow Quad desert rose kohl sand indigoI have to point out a remarkable thing: after 8 hours wearing the shadows, my eyes doesn’t obviously look the freshest, but i don’t see any creasing and that’s the biggest surprise to me, since i’m used to see it by the end of the day. Of course, i would always recommend using a good eye primer, which always helps to keep your shadows in place, but with GloMinerals you will simply need a tiny bit of the primer and you are good to go.

It so happened, that i did a not intended test 2 days ago. I felt asleep with my makeup on, which i usually don’t. Well, i was really sick and tired. Can you imagine my surprise, when i looked in the mirror 5 hours later and noticed how bad my mascara looked (literally all over my face), but the eye shadow was like 5 minutes after application?! I was very impressed.

GoMinerals Cleo Mini Eye Shadow QuadIf i mix the colors desert rose and sand together on my lid, it does neutralize my skin color and makes my eyes look much more awake.
GloMinerals Cleo Mini Eye Shadow QuadGloMinerals Cleo Mini Eye Shadow QuadI like the minimalistic design of the packaging. The only thing i probably would add, is a little mirror inside the quad and a little brush, to be able to use it on the go. Because for me personally it would be a great little quad to take on a short trip.
GloMinerals Cleo Mini Eye Shadow QuadI can only speak for the quality of this particular quad, but i believe, that other eyeshadow by GloMinerals should be as good as this one. I can only recommend trying these. Best place to find their products is on the actual site: HERE.

Have you heard of this quad or the brand before? What’s your experience?
Please share your thoughts with me.

Until next time – stay beautiful.

Ps: This review was not sponsored by GloMinerals & this is my true and honest opinion about the product.

Featuring Setu and Maybelline Lasting Drama Swirl Gel Liner

Hello my Beauties,

can you see the weekend coming slowly around the corner? Yes, it’s already thursday. 🙂

Today i want to introduce you to the lovely Setu Rohini from Mumbai, India – from The nailart and Beauty diaries.
She is your girl next door, who is crazy about nail art, makeup and Do It Yourself beauty.
Setu was one of the first, who was really interested in writing a guest post for Beauty expression by Luchessa. And i was happy to accept, as i love beauty blogger from all over the globe.

She wrote a great review on a daily use product, the Maybelline Lasting Drama Swirl Gel Liner – Black & Silver, which she is totally in love with these days.
So if you are intrigued by the product and want to meet a new blogger, keep reading.

Maybelline Lasting Drama Swirl Gel Liner Black & Silver Review

Hello lovely ladies! This is my first guest post for ‘Beauty expression by Luchessa’ so the barometer of my excitement level is very high. It’s like joining another happening kitty party :P.

Now, coming back to the beautiful Maybelline gel liner review.
Since ages, Woman (especially Indians) has been fascinated by kohls and liners. First came the kohl (kajal), then came the liquid liners and now there is a generation of gel liners; which is more like a hybrid of kohl and liquid liner. I simply love (love is an underestimation, actually I am obsessed with: P) kohls and my tryst with them can be read in my article
Finding the perfect one!
I have been using the amazing piece of Maybelline Lasting Drama Blackest Black for a couple of months now. I am impressed by its performance so decided to grab the other variant (black & grey) too without even finishing one fourth of my previous one :P.

Maybelline Lasting Drama Swirl Gel Liner Black & Silver

My Experience with PRODUCT: I was very curious when I bought the gel liner for the first time. I read piles of beauty blogs and reviews but none helped me answer the question if it is good to be used as kohl on lower eyelid. I only got the answer once I started using it. First I bought the black one and then the silver-black followed. I had been looking forward to add some bling in my daily kohl application. But considering my wheatish complexion I just cannot pick up any jazzy liner as they give a washed out look to face. There are plenty of glitter liners floating around in the market but there are two thumb rules when you want to pick one.

First, know your complexion and its limitation. No product review or beauty expert can guide you here. You are the best judge. What looked marvelous on her may look a dud on me.
Second, decide on the amount of glitter or bling you want. Is it too dull for a jeweled look or too loud for a decent look? It will depend on the occasion and will.
Maybelline Lasting Drama Swirl Gel Liner Black & Silver Tub Back

Having warned about the moderation of shimmer, I must admit that this product has just got the right amount of it. The color and pigmentation is perfect and doesn’t make you out of place wherever you go.
It is decent enough for office when you use the black/grey and striking enough for a party when you use the silver. The swirl of black and silver is not just at the top but it stretches down to bottom which means you have both silver and black till the end.

But let me tell you after few uses you would have all grey around unless you want to dig deep to find the silver. I have not been careful about not mixing the black and silver per say throughout its usage.  I separately own a black gel liner and a silver liquid liner so I didn’t bother much. But with care things may be will be better.

It comes in cute tab packing which will amaze you as soon as you open the magic box.
Beautiful swirls of silver and black along with a close to perfect brush. The length and make of the brush is such that it gives you good control allowing you to be creative. The brush comes with a cap to keep the bristles safe.

Really, since the time I shook my hands with the gel family of liners the journey has been more creative and fun.
The pigmentation is lovely and the staying power complements to the perfectness of the product. Like the black cousin gel liner, it stays for 5-6 hours almost fresh.
It fades away little bit from water line after this but doesn’t give a raccoon look. It won’t smudge or spread or bleed through corner of your eye. Clean exit, I must say. The consistency is like a pressed gel or like a lip balm (not the flowy kinds).
Maybelline Lasting Drama Swirl Gel Liner Black & Silver Swatch

Pros:

  • Great pigmentation, dense color
  • Gives choice of color (silver, grey or black) to suit every occasion
  • Well balanced mix shimmer and color
  • Fresh like look for 5-6 hours on waterline, will stay longer if used as eyeliner on upper lid.
  • Doesn’t smudge or bleed
  • Waterproof
  • Doesn’t sting or irritate
  • Safe for contact lenses (based on my experience)
  • Very little required to get the charismatic look, so will last long
  • Comfortable length and quality of brush which gives you good control
  • Allows you to be creative with shapes you can give to your eyes
  • Can be used as both liner and kohl J
  • Can be used to give a smoky eye makeup
  • Dries off in seconds unlike liquid liners
  • Travel friendly
  • Very cute and sturdy packaging
  • Affordable

 Cons:

  • Touch ups when outdoor can be difficult with this (brush in one hand and tub in another)
  • You need more care and attention than a twist up kajal(kohl)
  • If you apply heavy on your waterline, particles may dry and fall in your eye
  • I wish it stayed more

Maybelline Lasting Drama Swirl Gel Liner Black & Silver Tub and Brush

Will I re-purchase again? I am in love with this. I may try the brown and golden variant next.

Would I recommend it to others?  Yes. It has amazing pigmentation and staying.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5 (-0.5 for micro particles falling in eye)

Availability: Beauty store, Online stores etc

Beauty Blogger Tag!

Hello my Beauties,

how is your friday going so far? Hope you’ve started making plans for the weekend…

If you follow my blog for some time, you might have noticed how much i like all the fun beauty related tag’s, as it’s a great way to get to know the person behind the actual blog and get a sneak peek behind the curtains.
Today i found another Beauty Blogger Tag over at The Fashionista Observer and decided to share it with you.

Beauty Blogger Tag with Luchessa

   1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight? It’s something in between. Rather straight, but a little curly on the ends.

  1. What’s your natural hair color? A dark brown.
  1. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon? I don’t dye my hair at all, it’s quite sensitive to all the chemical stuff, so i try to stay away from anything, that would make me lose my hair.
  1. Do you wear the same style every day or do you change it? In my daily life i tend to wear same style, just because I have to wear certain things at work.
On the weekends or on special occasion though, i try to work my other – the more fancy side and wear something fun with nice statement jewelry.
  1. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon? I definitely do my own mani and pedi, since it literally calms me down and is so much fun, that i just enjoy taking this time and pamper myself.
  1. How often do you change your nail polish? Mostly ones a week.  It really depends on the circumstances. If i really get into the experimental mood, i change it every 3-4 days.
  1. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer? My toes are painted all year round. Never a bright color. Over the winter some kind of french or pinkish nude and over the summer some light metallic color, that goes with any type of shoes.
    Catrice Just married, Browno Mars
  1. How long does it take for you to put on your makeup? I would say i need my 20 minutes. Even if i’m really quick with doing my whole face, i like to take my time with the application.
And let’s be honest, for special occasions, like a birthday party or a date, we all love to spend like 2 hours trying things out and get the best result possible, right? 😉
  1. What do you do first, face or eyes? I always do my foundation first, along with concealer if needed. Then comes powder, blush and (bronzer or) highlighter. And i do my eyes last. 🙂
  1. Do you “collect” makeup or just buy what you need when you need it? A little bit of both probably. As a beauty blogger i like to stay up to date and see what kind of new innovative products are out there, but i never buy a type of product, that i never use for that purpose. Lately i treated myself with nail polishes only.
  1. How often do you wear false eye lashes? As i have very sensitive eyes, when it comes to “foreign bodies” – that’s why i could never wear contacts – I don’t wear false eye lashes, unless it’s for a photo shooting or a professional makeup session.
  1. Do you do a full face of makeup every day? It really depends on the condition of my skin at that moment. If i feel, like my canvas is looking quite good, i don’t do my foundation or concealer, i just grab my favorite powder and apply some blush for a fresh look. But what i always do is my eyes, since i feel like it makes my face look much more awake. Mascara is a must!
  1. Do you wear makeup when you are home alone, or with family? No i don’t. The only thing i use, is a good face moisturizer and a nice lip balm.
Burt's Bees lip balm, Eisenberg Fluid Cream
  1. Will you leave the house without makeup? I can totally do that, but the thing is, i like playing with my makeup way too much, to miss the opportunity of  putting something on, when going out. 😉 I guess you get the picture.
  1. How many high-end products do you have? I would say i mostly use drugstore to mid-range products, but probably 1/4 of my whole collection is high-end.
  1. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you are getting dressed? I usually plan my special occasion outfits quite a bit, coordinating it by color and style, but my daily outfits are mostly something i decide to wear spontaneously.
  1. How often do you change your handbag? My every day bag goes with almost everything, it’s a versatile one. But when i go out on weekends i like having a small clutch with me, that’s when i change my bags the most.
  1. What time do you get up and go to sleep? When i get up at 7am, i’m usually in bed around midnight, but when i have day’s where i get the chance to sleep longer, i’m not up until 11am and obviously not sleeping until 2am…actually i’m a night owl.
  1. How often or when do you work out? I have to confess, i’m not really a sports person. Every now and then i do some yoga, but it only happens ones or twice a month.
  1. Left handed or right-handed? Right-handed.
  1. How tall are you? I’m a petit woman, around 5’2.
  1. Do you speak a foreign language? I do speak 4 languages quite well, such as German, Russian, Spanish and English.
  2. How many pets do you have? I don’t have any pet’s, but i always wanted a dog.
  1. How often are you on blogger? (or your other blog platform) I usually check my WordPress every day, but post around 3 times a week, sometime even more often!!!
  1. Do you read comments posted on blogs? Yes, i always do, as i love to interact with my readers and fellow bloggers.
  1. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts? Yes i do. I even have a small book, where i write my post ideas down.
  1. How did you come up with your blog name?
I came up with “Beauty expression”, as i like to express myself about all things, that make us women beautiful, and that’s not only makeup.
  1. What kind of camera do you use for photographs? I use my beloved Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7.
  1. How often do you clean your house? Ones a week a little bit everywhere and another time a serious cleaning on weekends.
  1. What is your favorite color? I wear mostly purple, blues and reds in my free time. As i have to wear black for work, i tend to grab a fun color, when i go out.
  1. Do you swear? On rare occasions…you know sometimes it expresses just the best, how you feel…
But i do remind myself to be a lady normally. 🙂
  1. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
After work i like to relax, read the comments on my blog and answer your emails.
In the evenings, a cup of tea and a movie is just the best relaxation for me.

I hope you had fun reading this tag, my Beauties. You are all welcome to do it as well!!
I would like to tag a few of my fellow beauty bloggers and hope to read their answers soon. 🙂

Review: KIKO – Smoky eyes pencil 01 Foggy

Hello my Beauties,

how is everyone doing today?

As i was going through my eye liner collection recently, i discovered one of my go-to liners, that i wanted to review for so long, that i almost forgot to do it.
The minute i was holding it in my hand again, i knew i had to put it back on my “blog about list”.

I’m talking about the Smoky eyes pencil in 01 foggy by KIKO make up milano.

I remember having this conversation back in january with Shannon from EyemasQ about the italian brand KIKO and how excited she was to get the opportunity to try their products, as there are no actual stores in Canada or the States (as far as I know). Back then she got another color from the same ”Lavish Oriental” autumn / winter collection 2012 for the price of 6,90 euros ( about 9 $) and seemed to be happy with the quality.

So there you go – meet my goodie:

Kiko smokey eyes pencil 01I like how classy the packaging looks, without actually being boring. This blue silver greyish look for a single eye pencil gives the whole appearance an exquisite statement. Texture-wise Kiko’s pencil’s are known to be very creamy, with the ability to glide on like a mousse. That for it’s should be obvious to wear an eye primer underneath, especially for those of us with rather oily lids.

But it works also fine as a base liner (like a jumbo pencil) before putting on a really heavy brownish eyeshadow, so it has something profound to stick on.

When it comes to the actual color – i would say, it’s a nice mid-brown with rather orange undertone and contains also green and golden shimmer, which is def noticeable on the lid.

As for me – this is the perfect combination of a noticeable, but not too dark color, with fun shimmer accents for the everyday use.
And you can always make your eye look even more vibrant and dramatic, by applying more product & smudging the corners out with the angled brush, which is on the other side of the pencil. How handy is that?!
Btw: don’t forget to keep your liner sharp, as the creamy texture is going to smudge around in the first place, if it’s blunt.

To get this liner of your lid again, you simply need an oil based makeup remover or makeup wipes. Nice and easy.

I use this pencil for 3 month now and am really happy with the quality.
Have you ever tried a KIKO liner or any other of their products? Let me know, what your most favorite creamy liner is.
Please feel free to share your secrets in the comments below.

Until next time – stay beautiful.
