Sunday Read {Vol.3}

Hey my Beauties,

it’s sunday again and you know what that means. It’s time for our weekly {Sunday Read}, where i share with you some great posts, written by my fellow bloggers.
Sometimes it’s just a mix of random beauty & lifestyle topics, or like today – a special subject.
sunday read by LuchessaAs usual, you can always go ahead and take part in this sunday read event. Grab this Sunday Read photo!
The rules are very simple:
Pick out some of your most favorite posts written by others &  tell me exactly why you picked them.
Then all you need to do is to link up down below.

I have always been a big lover of homemade face masks and body scrubs, but if i find a really great sheet mask or a clay in store, i will go for it. 😉 So let’s talk Face Masks. (I think it suits the “sunday pampering” mood anyways.)

My treasures this week:

1) So there is this Korea-Canada blog, ( i guess the writers name behind it is Sonya) that i just recently discovered and stumbled over an interesting topic:
{
Paper face masks: A Korean beauty secret} which apparently hit the US-market last year. You have to know, that these affordable paper face masks, are incredibly popular especially in Korea and target busy women, who want great & fast results for very friendly prices are totally in love with them. Of course we have that type of masks here in Europe as well (I bet same in the States), but i have to admit, the clay type of masks are actually more represented in stores. Every woman wants “hydration, brightening, wrinkle fighting or pore tightening” effect and it was interesting to see how forward the korean market there already is.

2) Sophia from Tattooed Tea Lady wrote a great Skincare Series post, where she talked about her favorite {Masks}. I liked the variety of different brands and types she described. All of them “do different things, targeting different skin concerns and issues.” I think it’s important to pick the right type of face mask, focusing on what you’re actually wanting to improve.
Sophia shared her detailed opinion on Origins Dr Jart+, REN and other brands, so there should be something for everybody.

3) Kelly and Gemma from Pages and Perfume shared their thoughts on {‘Love Lettuce’ Face Mask by LUSH} that “contains something called ‘fullers earth’, an ingredient consisting of a number of clays which is meant to absorb grease and debris, and also tighten the skin.” For all you LUSH lovers out there, this should be a product, you already heard about. If you are up for an easy pampering and exfoliating experience, that could be your go-to product.

4) Meghan from Painted lady – besides being an aspiring medical esthetician, is also a lover of great face masks, so when i saw her post on {Face Mask Friday! Wild Rose and Honey}, i knew i had to share it with you. I have to admit, i have never heard of the brand Wild Carrot Herbals before, but a “mild exfoliant + loaded with enzymes” definitely sounded good to me. It’s a thick great smelling honey based mask, with an antibacterial & calming effect. If you are a honey scent lover, you might enjoy this one!

5) And as i love fresh homemade masks, i’m going to share with you one more post, that i found on another “new to me” blog – Carpe Diem For All (how great is that blog name?!). I spotted this {At Home Oatmeal Face Mask} with organic and healthy products in it. The pictures, that have been used for the post are lovely and the actual recipe seems to be like something everyone should already have in the kitchen.
So if you like “your skin soft and glowing” – take a closer look at that blog post and say “YES please” to oats, mild & honey!

There you go, my Beauties. That was our Sunday Read for this week. Hope you like the idea of one topic post.
Say HI to everyone, when you visit their blogs and enjoy the recipes & mask ideas.

What posts’ did you like over the past week, my gorgeous readers?

Until next time – stay beautiful!

Sunday Read {Vol. 2}

Hello my Beauties,

happy sunday to you. Another week went by and so much has happened in the bloggers community.
Of course i have found a few really great posts, written by talented bloggers, that are worth sharing. 🙂
So grab your favorite smoothie and let’s get started with our weekly {Sunday Read}.

sunday read by LuchessaAs usual, you can always go ahead and take part in this sunday read event. Grab this Sunday Read photo!
The rules are very simple:
Pick out some of your most favorite posts written by others &  tell me exactly why you picked them.
Then all you need to do is to link up down below.

My treasures this week:

1) When it comes to our jobs, we often think back of th every first one and how we felt, when we made those little mistakes, from which we learned afterwards. Am I right? We all learned how to become a better team player and worked on our social skills, which are as important as all the needed IQ for the particular job. And as little as it looks, we learned to smile that confident and friendly smile, that makes us a “human colleague”. Jade from Jade Isabelle talked about these and many other interesting topics in her
{5 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started My First Job} post, that i found really worth sharing with all of you.

2) Most of us love to travel. It’s a great way to experience new cultures, great local food, meet people and get inspired by the way they see life, even fashion and beauty tendencies can be incredibly different from what we see day by day in our own countries.
Traveling opens your eyes to the important things in life, if you give that destination a real change to show its whole beauty to you.
That and what discovering of great new landscapes can really mean, is what Organised Clutter talked about in her
{Why You Should Travel Out of Your Comfort Zone}.

3) While scrolling down my Blogroll a quote caught immediately my eye. It was saying: “Comparison is the thief of joy”.
So i had to stop and look at that blog post.
The quote consisted of just a few words, but there was so much meaning behind them.
It basically challenges you to believe in yourself, your knowledge and power to move things, to come forward in life and by being  just yourself – being happy. Tianna from Storybook Apothecary made her point very sharp and clear and left me somehow very inspired for the rest of the day. Read for yourself: {Stay Inspired}.

4) What do you think about challenging yourself to go a whole week without complaining and being negative?
What about trying to see all what’s happening around you in a bright and positive way?
I came across this great {
7 Days No-Negative Challenge} over on Brooklyn’s blog This little Blonde and thought, that i had to share this with my readers and remind myself to go more positive through my working week and take things easy.
Try it, challenge yourself and have a wonderful & happy new week!

Elizabeth Gilbert does that in Eat Pray Love, by embarking on her journey with specific purposes – one country for pleasure of the senses, another for spiritual enlightenment and the third to restore balance in her life.

How to enter:
Leave me a comment saying what are the motivating things in life, that help you in your sad moments.
What makes you feel better? (Please write a little more than just 5 words, would love to hear about your “remedy”!)

Featuring Sunshine Citizen and her Top 3 Dermacol Products

Hello my Beauties,

ones again it’s one of those days, where you find a new featured Blogger here on Beauty expression by Luchessa.
Please give this lovely lady a warm welcome and be prepared to gain a beauty friend.

Meet Flori, who has always been inspired by anything beautiful and dreamed about making a change in the world, while not necessarily making a name for herself. How humble is that!
SunshineCitizen
On her blog the Sunshine Citizen you will find great DIY ideas, recipies, beauty & hair products, as well as style posts.
I mean, look at her gorgeous & healthy looking hair – she simply has to have her “hair secrets”! Right?!
Swing over and leave Flori some feedback. You’re going to love her!

{My Top 3 Dermacol Products}

Hi, my name is Flori and I am the blogger behind Sunshine Citizen.
Luchessa generously offered me the chance to write a guest post for her and I couldn’t refuse!
Don’t you just love Luchessa?

She wanted me to showcase a Slovakian brand, since that is where I am from, but honestly I couldn’t find one. Instead I offered to do a post on my favorite products from Dermacol, an old brand started in Prague, as I have tried a fair share of their products and after all the Czech Republic is our neighbor and we once were the same country. I hope you enjoy the post!

Product No. 1
{Dermacol Makeup Cover Up}

This is a must have! Honestly, I would call this the secret weapon of the Slovak and Czech women.
Dermacol Make-up Cover lists 50% of pigments in its ingredient list, making it possible to cover up just about anything with the tiniest amount. It can be used as foundation, but let me tell you this is heavy duty stuff, which will become one of your favorite concealers.

It’s so versatile that not only can you use it as foundation or concealer, you can dilute with the moisturizing cream you use to your preferred coverage and you have a tinted moisturizer!
You get 30 g of product in a gold metal tube, which will probably last you ages considering how little of the product is needed to get the job done.
It being waterproof, smelling lovely, and having a SPF 30 are some other things to take into consideration and in my mind adjectives to add to its list of qualities.

Product No. 2
{Lip Seduction Lipstick}

Not only is the packaging of the Lip Seduction Lipstick really cute, it is the lip product I find myself reaching for to take everywhere. Press the transparent end through which you can see the lipstick and with a click the lipstick comes out of the blue metal tube.
With the lipstick being extremely hydrating and nourishing, your lips are sure to be look beautiful and plump.
The lipstick is in fact so nourishing that it has replaced my favorite lip balm.
It has made it possible to enjoy the best of both worlds; the pigmentation of lipstick and the overall luxurious feel of a great balm.
Dermacol Lip Seduction lipstickProduct No. 3
{Aroma Therapy Stress Relief Body Oil – Grape and Lime}

Not only does this smell so good, that it makes me want to make a summer drink inspired by it, it is amazing stuff!

The oil blend is very light and sinks right into the skin, leaving it soft and smooth. It is rich in vitamins so it is supposed to intensively treat and regenerate your skin. The scent of grapes and lime is rather strong, but so soothing that is does not bug me and leaves me wanting more.
The thing I love about this oil is that it doesn’t really contain a lot of chemical ingredients and it is very versatile!
It can be used as massage oil, a moisturizer after taking a bath, and even can be used in your hair care routine.
Personally, I love using it after a bath and it leaves the skin soft and since it has a thin runny consistency; it seeps right into the skin without leaving an oily film. It is definitely one of my favorite body oils I have ever tried and the scent embodies everything I love about summer.
dermacol aroma rituals body oil

I hope you enjoyed the post! And I would like to thank Luchessa for giving me the opportunity to write a little post for you.
Have a great day!

So my Beauties, i hope you found a new interesting brand to check out and a great fresh face in the blogosphere.
I especially liked the review on these lipsticks, since Flori somehow managed to pick out just the right “Luchessa-colors”.
And those of you know follow me for some time, know that i absolutely love vintage rose type of lip products, that are not having a  drying effect on my lips.

Here is the official Dermacol site, where you can take a look on the whole range of their products.
And here is an online pharmacy Medcentrum, that seems to be shipping internationally, in case you get interested in any of Dermacol’s products.

Find Flori on Twitter or Bloglovin’ and chat away!!

Until next time – stay beautiful!!

The {us} in the Beauty Blogger community – FMSphotoaday Day 25

Hello my Beauties,

i really hope the weekend weather forecast in your area is much better than mine.
It’s another grey, cold and rainy day in the paradise, but i try to see it from the bright side – the blogger’s perspective.

There was no sunny saturday brunch outside, but there was room & space for a productive blogging afternoon instead.
And that’s equally good, don’t you think? 😉

Today it’s Day 25 of the May Photo a Day Challenge and the topic is: “Us“.
25. Us: Us could mean your workmates, family, friends or otherwise. How will you show everyone your ‘us’?

To me the actual blogging experience is about sharing and finding new useful information, when it comes to lifestyle, traveling, beauty in general and fashion.
And let me tell you, by finding your blogs and discovering the personalities behind them, i learned so much, which inspired me to be dedicated & motivated about my own blog.

I really hope, that by sharing {The Us in the Blogger Community} it will help someone else not only to discover great beauty & lifestyle bloggers, but also to become inspired and be closer to their readers and friends.
Because what makes it more fun for everybody, is the interaction & being active. Just believe me 😉

There you go, here is my small selection of wonderful bloggers
Each one with their own story and opinion about life, beauty and fashion journey, small and big joy & happiness.

Please don’t be sad, if your name isn’t mentioned in this post.
If i would name each and everyone, who i found so far along my blogging experience, this post would become way too long…
But let me just point out: You’re more likely to get in one of these posts, if you keep interacting & being active on here & Twitter. 😉
*wink wink*

don’t you feel like weekends have the tendency of going by way too fast?
I definitely do, but to make sunday evening a bit sweeter for all of us, i want to share with you a great blogger and a her lovely milestone giveaway.

First i have to say, that blogging isn’t about reaching huge numbers, it’s more about passion and doing what you love and enjoy.

But if that passion connects you with many other similar minded people all around the world and makes it easy to have new wonderful friends, reaching a milestone, like 1000 Twitter and 800 Blog Followers is a big thing.

That’s what happened to my dear beauty blogger friend Laura and her fresh & fun blog A Scottish Lass
As you might imagine, she is from Scotland and is a “self-confessed shopaholic” that loves Polka dots, cocktails, cake and coffee.

Laura was so excited about people loving her blog and the daily support,

a scottish lass
How amazing is that? I bet all you M.A.C. lovers out there just shouted: Wohoooo!

So if you want to check out Laura’s blog & the giveaway, you’re more than welcome to do so.
(You got 19 more day’s to enter)
For the Giveaway – CLICK HERE  and don’t forget to say Hi to Laura from me.

Btw: Lately there were two really nice posts on A Scottish Lass, that I would suggest taking a look at:

1) Maybelline Colorsensational Vivids review – some great ideas for your new spring lipstick!
2) April Favorites – where Laura talks about a few products, that i’m personally interested in trying, like the Organix – rejuvenating Cherry Blossom Ginseng Shampoo & Conditioner and also the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation.

Hope you love Laura as much as I do.
Until next time – stay beautiful!

Featuring Amanda and SkincareHQ

Hello my Beauties,

today i would love you to meet Amanda, a young woman from Minneapolis, who run’s SkincareHQ – a blog full of great dermatology,  simple skin & hair care tips and makeup.
About a month ago Amanda approached me about writing a guest post for my site and offered to talk about skincare tips for spring and summer, that really work for her.

I gladly accepted, since getting tips from someone, who calls herself a skincare fanatic can’t hurt at all, right?!
I hope you find Amanda’s article useful and give her blog a chance to grow.  Here we go:

Skincare Tips For Spring and Summer

During the spring and summer, hot conditions rule the day and sometimes even the night. These hot and humid conditions can have a less than ideal effect on your skin. Your skin will certainly suffer the consequences if you don’t properly care for it during these horribly hot conditions. But don’t worry! Follow these simple tips and keep your skin looking great all summer long.

face washKeep it Clean

The first thing you should make sure to do is keep your skin clean. Heat means sweat, and sweat can lead to oily, slick skin and acne blemishes. To ensure your skin doesn’t stay this way, you need to make sure you clean your face with a gentle acne wash every night before you go to bed. There’s no need to do this in the morning, however. Just rinse your face with some warm water when you wake up, and pat it dry. This will make sure your skin is clean, but not dried out.
hydrating creams
Stay Hydrated

Heat can also lead to the skin becoming dried out. For this reason, you should make sure you drink plenty of water. Dehydration can lead to the skin becoming sallow, dried out, and yes, even this can lead to excess acne. A good rule of thumb is to drink eight cups of water each day, which is equivalent to four regular sized water bottles. There are times when you need to drink an extra cup or two, however. A few good examples are:

  • If you are pregnant, you should drink 2 extra cups of water each day at least
  • If you are in high elevations, such as in the mountains, you should drink 1 to 2 extra cups
  • If you are in extremely cold weather (under 32F) or hot weather (over 85-90F), you should drink 1 to 2 extra cups per day
  • For each daily medication you take, you should try to drink 1 extra cup of water (vitamins not included unless specified on the bottle)

It isn’t hard to figure out, either. It might seem that way, but if you are a perfectly healthy person on no medications, in a normal climate, you would only drink 8 cups or 4 water bottles. If you are a pregnant woman, living in the mountains with a very cold climate, and taking 1 prescription medicine a day, you would drink around 11-12 cups, or 5 to 6 water bottles each day.
body lotions
Moisturize

Another  way to make sure your skin doesn’t get dried out is to moisturize. This should be done each night after you wash and pat dry your face, just before bed. Choose a moisturizer that will work well for your skin type. Those with dry skin should use a strong, thick cream, while those with oily skin should look for moisturizers without added oils. Yes, even oily skinned people should moisturize. It is entirely necessary for everyone, no matter your particular skin type.
Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral foundation
Protect Your Skin

When you go out into the sun, make sure that you use sunscreen. Some foundations actually have built-in sunscreen, so make sure you read the package to see if yours is one that does. If not, you can also add a drop or two into your foundation. If you aren’t using makeup, such as at the beach, just place the sunscreen directly onto your skin and rub it in well. Using sunscreen will help you avoid getting a sunburn, which is not only unattractive and painful, but can predispose you to skin cancer.

And that ‘s really all there is to it.

This is all that is necessary for keeping your skin healthy, clean, and even safe during spring and summer.
Do you have any other tips you would like to add to what i have already said?
Let me know about it in the comments below. I can’t wait to hear what you have to say!

There you go, Beauties. If you want to connect with Amanda, you can find her @Skincare_HQ on Twitter!

NOTD + Featured nail art + mini Giveaway (closed)

Hello my Beauties,

how are you doing?
Today’s post has 3 different parts, that i’m sure you are going to like. So grab your favorite cup of tea & let’s begin.

By the end of march my Twitter friend Radi and i have decided to do a little nail polish swap. As Radi lives in Bulgaria she was kind enough to offer me some of the polishes that are being sold there & i on my part of course picked out a few german based brands for her.
You can see her post on the swap HERE. She also did a beautiful design with the KIKO Sugar matt, that was originally the idea for a swap.

Today i got the parcel from Bulgaria and obviously couldn’t wait to try some of the sparkling goodies, that i’ve found inside.
Perfect nail polish, Golden Rose jolly jewels 103I tried my best to take a few good pictures in today’s horrible light, but the gloomy & grey weather didn’t make it easier for me. I really hope you get the idea anyways.
golden rose jolly jewels 103, perfect nail polish nail designAs you can see the “Perfect” base coat appears much more purplish in the flash light.
The Jolly Jewels polish has quite a thick consistency and is really opaque in just one coat.
golden rose jolly jewels 103, perfect nail polish bulgarian brandIn this shot the “shiny jewels” are much more noticeable & visible. They have a lovely rose gold shimmer to it.
I really like how the two polishes became one mani. Now i’m really curious for how long it’s going to stay on my nails.
Have you tried any of these polishes yet?

As the second part of the post i would like to share with you Radi’s guest post with you. I asked her to do a nice & fun spring nail art and she did a really great job, if you ask me. But see for yourself and don’t forget to visit her blog, to see more great swatches and design ideas.

Hello everyone!

Featuring Sabrina and a Spring Manicure

Hello my Beauties,

it’s weekend. Let’s celebrate with a fun fresh and very much spring inspired manicure.
Today i would love you to meet my sweet blogging buddy Sabrina from Polish Alcoholic. I got to know her in the very beginning of my blogging days and she has always been a very supportive person, with a great attitude and not to mention the most well taken care of nails i have seen in a long time.
I asked Sabrina to do a step-by-step tutorial on a simple & sweet nail design and this is what she came up with:

Hello everyone.

My name is Sabrina, a 27 years young girl from The Netherlands.
I have a serious addiction, an addiction to nail polish. I can’t help myself 😉 I love to collect them and I’m constantly on the ‘haunt’ for my lemmings that are mostly hard to find and/or discontinued.

I am so honored that the sweetest Luchessa is willing to dedicate a little space of her amazing blog to me. Thanks dear! *mwah*

Even though it’s still rainy, grey and even snowy outside… I created a Spring themed mani for you beauties.
Let’s get started!

Spring manicure by Polish AlcoholicThe tool’s you are going to need:

– WIC “Minsk”
– OPI “Forrest My Case”
OPI ZOYA Butter London nail polishes for spring manicure

First design:

When your base coat is dry, paint your nails white and let it dry completely.

Use a medium striper with a green polish to create blades of grass.

Make sure the tip of the nail is covered with ‘grass’. Then create a little bit depth by slightly ‘swiping’ a lighter green polish on and between the darker green polish.

Create two tiny ‘leaves’ by using a medium striper and dark and lighter green polish. Give the design a bit time to dry and add a top coat.

Second design:

When your base coat is dry, paint your nails light/pastel blue and let it dry completely.

Use a white polish and a medium striper to create a cross.

Repeat step 6 so that you’ll get a ‘star’.

Gently fill in the spaces between the white lines.

Create a big yellow dot with your largest dotting tool and wait for the design to dry.
Use a top coat to get a smooth finish 🙂
Nail art tutorial spring manicureAfter finishing all those steps, your manicure should look something like that.

Beauties, i don’t know about you, but i feel like painting my nails now 😉 Since not everyone has many nails art tools at home, this is a cute design that you can even create with a thin nail polish brush, so just give it a try!!
