TAG: I ♥ Spring!

Hello my Beauties, happy sunday to all of you. The sun is shining here today, birdies are singing and it almost feels like our warm spring is finally here. 

That made me really want to do this I ♥ Spring tag, that has been going around a lot these days. 
So without further talk, let’s get down to business.
1. Favorite Nail Polish?
I really love my Meet me at coral island by Catrice. It has the right amount of pink and orange in it to create a beautiful smooth coral color on the nails.
2. What is your must-have lip color this spring?
First of all a must-have to me is a good lip balm, which is a Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment with PSF 15 at the moment and in terms of color. i’m going to stick with my current love, that made it into my last favorites post, a nice sheer coral – Tarte LipSurgence in Glisten.
3. Show us your favorite spring dress!
I have to admit, i’m that big in wearing dresses at all and even less when it comes to spring & summer dresses. The only ones i find cozy, are those wool knitted dresses for the winter time. 
4. What’s your favorite flower?
I really love the light blue and purple Hydrangeas. When i was traveling to Italy a few years ago they were right at their bloom and i remember taking a tons of pictures…i wish i had them in my home all year around…
5. Favorite spring scarf/accessory?
You have to know, i’m actually more of an autumn girl and do not have that many “spring inspired” clothing items and accessories, but i picked 2 things, that i will totally rock this spring. One is my beautiful fresh orangy coral crossbody bag from Accessorize and my somewhat  Chanel inspired chain scarf, that you might have seen me wearing both HERE.
I was very much inspired by Lodis Accessories Del Rey Daria Crossbody, Banana Republic Red Leather Handbag, and especially Kate Spade Flicker Scout Bag- Flo Coral , so when i saw a similar style bag at Accessorize, i had to get it.
6. What spring trend(s) are you most excited about this year? (Makeup, Fashion or both!)
I think i’m very much excited about all the new nail polish trends, like the textured and mirrored polishes. Makes it really interesting to try them. Neons aren’t really my thing, but i see all the fun ballet flats for summer in stores already and it makes think, that spicing up a neutral outfit with some really bright blue or coral ballets wouldn’t be that bad at all.
7. Favorite Spring Candle?
Well, don’t be surprised, but it’s literally Spring by Slatkin & Co, that Bath & Body Works brought out in Spring 2012.
I love how it combines many floral scents and smells still very fresh and “happy”.
8. Favorite body spray/perfume for spring?
I always go with my mood. One day i like to use a nice body lotion, like the Berry Flirt by Bath and Body Works and the other day i’m going for my wonderful Angel Gold perfume by Victoria’s Secret.
9. What is spring like where you live?
Well right now, it’s still very cold, but at least sunny. Today we have +5 °C, which is definitely way too cold for April, but i’m hoping it’s going to chance soon to the better & warmer. Usually there are much more blooming trees here and the air is full with flower scents.
And all you want to do is to sit somewhere outside in the sun with your big cup of coffee and just BE. 🙂
10. What’s your favorite things about spring?
I’m more outgoing and on the road during spring and summer, so i can’t wait for the warmth to come. And from the girly perspective of spring i will have to say, finally be able to wear cute booties and pumps, that are still sitting in my closet right now…
11. Are you a spring cleaner?
Funny enough i’m more of a winter and summer cleaner when it comes to my wardrobe, but of course i will be cleaning my windows soon (ok maybe in a few weeks…) and plant some flowers on the balcony, just like mama teached me to. 😉

Beauty Blogger Tag!

Hello my Beauties,

how is your friday going so far? Hope you’ve started making plans for the weekend…

If you follow my blog for some time, you might have noticed how much i like all the fun beauty related tag’s, as it’s a great way to get to know the person behind the actual blog and get a sneak peek behind the curtains. 
Today i found another Beauty Blogger Tag over at The Fashionista Observer and decided to share it with you. 

   1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight? It’s something in between. Rather straight, but a little curly on the ends.

2. What’s your natural hair color? A dark brown.

3. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon? I don’t dye my hair at all, it’s quite sensitive to all the chemical stuff, so i try to stay away from anything, that would make me lose my hair.

4. Do you wear the same style every day or do you change it? In my daily life i tend to wear same style, just because I have to wear certain things at work.
   On the weekends or on special occasion though, i try to work my other – the more fancy side and wear something fun with nice statement jewelry.

5. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon? I definitely do my own mani and pedi, since it literally calms me down and is so much fun, that i just enjoy taking this time and pamper myself.

6. How often do you change your nail polish? Mostly ones a week.  It really depends on the circumstances. If i really get into the experimental mood, i change it every 3-4 days.

7. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer? My toes are painted all year round. Never a bright color. Over the winter some kind of french or pinkish nude and over the summer some light metallic color, that goes with any type of shoes.
   

8. How long does it take for you to put on your makeup? I would say i need my 20 minutes. Even if i’m really quick with doing my whole face, i like to take my time with the application.
   And let’s be honest, for special occasions, like a birthday party or a date, we all love to spend like 2 hours trying things out and get the best result possible, right? 😉

9. What do you do first, face or eyes? I always do my foundation first, along with concealer if needed. Then comes powder, blush and (bronzer or) highlighter. And i do my eyes last. 🙂

10. Do you “collect” makeup or just buy what you need when you need it? A little bit of both probably. As a beauty blogger i like to stay up to date and see what kind of new innovative products are out there, but i never buy a type of product, that i never use for that purpose. Lately i treated myself with nail polishes only.

11. How often do you wear false eye lashes? As i have very sensitive eyes, when it comes to “foreign bodies” – that’s why i could never wear contacts – I don’t wear false eye lashes, unless it’s for a photo shooting or a professional makeup session.

12. Do you do a full face of makeup every day? It really depends on the condition of my skin at that moment. If i feel, like my canvas is looking quite good, i don’t do my foundation or concealer, i just grab my favorite powder and apply some blush for a fresh look. But what i always do is my eyes, since i feel like it makes my face look much more awake. Mascara is a must!

13. Do you wear makeup when you are home alone, or with family? No i don’t. The only thing i use, is a good face moisturizer and a nice lip balm.
    

14. Will you leave the house without makeup? I can totally do that, but the thing is, i like playing with my makeup way too much, to miss the opportunity of  putting something on, when going out. 😉 I guess you get the picture.

15. How many high-end products do you have? I would say i mostly use drugstore to mid-range products, but probably 1/4 of my whole collection is high-end.

16. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you are getting dressed? I usually plan my special occasion outfits quite a bit, coordinating it by color and style, but my daily outfits are mostly something i decide to wear spontaneously.

17. How often do you change your handbag? My every day bag goes with almost everything, it’s a versatile one. But when i go out on weekends i like having a small clutch with me, that’s when i change my bags the most.

18. What time do you get up and go to sleep? When i get up at 7am, i’m usually in bed around midnight, but when i have day’s where i get the chance to sleep longer, i’m not up until 11am and obviously not sleeping until 2am…actually i’m a night owl.

19. How often or when do you work out? I have to confess, i’m not really a sports person. Every now and then i do some yoga, but it only happens ones or twice a month.

20. Left handed or right-handed? Right-handed.

21. How tall are you? I’m a petit woman, around 5’2.

22. Do you speak a foreign language? I do speak 4 languages quite well, such as German, Russian, Spanish and English.
23. How many pets do you have? I don’t have any pet’s, but i always wanted a dog.

23. How often are you on blogger? (or your other blog platform) I usually check my WordPress every day, but post around 3 times a week, sometime even more often!!!

24. Do you read comments posted on blogs? Yes, i always do, as i love to interact with my readers and fellow bloggers.

25. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts? Yes i do. I even have a small book, where i write my post ideas down.

26. How did you come up with your blog name?
    I came up with “Beauty expression”, as i like to express myself about all things, that make us women beautiful, and that’s not only makeup.

27. What kind of camera do you use for photographs? I use my beloved Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7.

28. How often do you clean your house? Ones a week a little bit everywhere and another time a serious cleaning on weekends.

29. What is your favorite color? I wear mostly purple, blues and reds in my free time. As i have to wear black for work, i tend to grab a fun color, when i go out.

30. Do you swear? On rare occasions…you know sometimes it expresses just the best, how you feel…
    But i do remind myself to be a lady normally. 🙂

31. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
    After work i like to relax, read the comments on my blog and answer your emails. In the evenings, a cup of tea and a movie is just the best relaxation for me.

♥ Confessions of a Beauty Blogger TAG ♥

Hello my Beauties!!

Are you enjoying your weekend so far? I really hope you are up to something fun today. 🙂

I recently found this fun tag on Charlie’s blog: Dolled up Beauty and enjoyed it so much, that i decided to go ahead and do it too, hoping that some of you might enjoy another tag as well 🙂
I think it’s always nice to know what motivates this particular beauty blogger to write and get creative. So let’s start the journey.
1. How many hours a week do you spend writing/editing posts?

It actually really depends on how many posts a week i’m doing and what kind of posts they are. Some just naturally take more time for research and editing than others. It variates from one hour to 2,5h. But overall i would say it’s about 20 hours a week.

2. Are you a spender or a saver?

I think i have mentioned that before, but i’m kind of both. With high-end products i will usually think very carefully if i really want to spend that amount and if it’s really worth the price. So i look for reviews and opinions, swatches ect and than i decide. But with drugstore products i tend to be rather “brave”. If you know what i mean.

3. When is it easiest for you to blog?

Most of the times it’s around late afternoon or early evenings when i write my posts. During the night i tend to go over comments and answer your questions and requests.

4. What makes writing behind a computer easier?

The modern world makes it really easy to be your own boss and pick your own time & mood to be creative. That’s what i like about being a beauty blogger.

5. What’s your worst makeup/hair habit?

Honestly, i can’t think of any big bad beauty related habits. I don’t bite my nails, i don’t have split ends, i dont use hair curling or straightening tools, i take my makeup off every night, i moisturize my skin… sorry, but there is nothing i would consider a bad makeup/hair habit.

6. Whats your one quote I wish the world would live by?

Actually i have a few quotes that i really like, but i think most suitable for now would be: “Don’t judge, and you won’t be judged.”

 7. How long do you spend getting ready everyday?

Most of the times i get ready in 30 minutes in the morning. If i have more time and don’t have to rush – i do more beautifying steps and enjoy an hour getting ready. But the key word is: enjoying! I would turn my radio louder, dance around, maybe even sing and create some not so daily eye looks or try out a lipstick combination ect. But during early morning you know how it is – just the absolutely necessary.

8. What’s my favourite video on youtube?

This is a really hard question for me, since i’m watching youtube videos on almost a daily basis since 2006, when i opened my channel there. (I’m not doing youtube videos myself, i’m just a user).
Since that time, as you can possibly imagine i have followed a lot of different kind of youtubers. There is everything from beauty to comedy, over tv shows and how to channels.
So i don’t think i will be able to point one particular video out.

9. Who is the blogger that you read that deserves more subscribes than they have?

I would say everyone who i have ever mentioned and will be mentioning in my posts, since this is the whole idea of doing it – to expose those bloggers to the bigger public, so they would be noticed and read! There are certainly a few ppl who i admire for their blogging skills and they know who they are!! 😉

10. What’s the one thing you most excited about in the up and coming year?

I would love to see my blog rise and shine during 2013. I can’t say it’s my biggest challenge, but it’s definitely the one big thing i’m really excited about. 🙂

11. Whats your most awkward blogging moment:

I get these kind of moments every time i don’t understand how some html things or widgets work. I feel upset about myself, but on the other hand this is learning by doing process for me, as i have never been in contact with these things. I’m also very thankful for all the help different bloggers & wordpress gurus on twitter are offering to me.

12. How long does it take to prep a post?

Obviously if it’s kind of a review, i take my time to really test a products, at least for 4 – 6 weeks to really see how my skin reacts ect. But if i do a nail art post or swatches it doesn’t take long at all.

13. Are you wearing jeans/pants/skirt or pyjamas right now?

 I have to admit, i’m a big pj’s lover. And still wondering why it’s not appropriated to wear these outside of the house. No i’m just kidding. But i would wear pj’s every evening, even before going to bed. 🙂 I just love the feeling of being cozy at home.

14. What are you most proud of in your life right now?

Did i mention my blog already?? It’s definitely one of THE best things that i decided to go with.

Hello my Beauties.
Hope you are doing well. Please do me a favor: stay save and dry during the time of hurricanes, storms and snow falls.  

I found this fun short tag on: http://niicolea.wordpress.com and thought i would participate. 

The tag:

1. Blush or Bronzer?
Most likely Blush! I have to admit, i barely use bronzer. (I have only one bronzer in my collection). But i’m a big blush lover. All the different shades that can make your cheeks glow! 🙂

2. Lipgloss or Lipstick?
Lately i became a lipstick girl. Some years ago i was only using lipgloss, since i was going for a bold eye look. But these days i discovered many awesome lipsticks and now i can’t go without.

3. Chopstick or Lip butter?
I like the highly mosturizing buttery feeling on my lips. So my choice is definitely going to be lip butter.

4. Matte or Sparkle Eyeshadow?
Actually i prefer metallic shadows. I don’t buy any sparkle ones. Usually i combine matte & metallic. Works for a daily eye look as well as for the night out.

5. Gel, Liquid, Cream or Pencil Liner?
Mostly pencil liner on my lower lashline & creaseless cream liner on my top lid.

6. Foundation or Concealer?
I often skip the foundation, but i use concealer most of the time. Especially when my skin feels pretty good (on those days i would only use powder), i only need to cover up a few spots and im almost ready to go.

7. Liquid or Powder Foundation? 
Liquid foundation! Works best for me, as i’m applying it with a wet sponge and working it in for the best result!

8. Neutral or Statement eye? 
As i mentioned before i go for a statement eye most of the times, as i feel with the neutral look i appear more “washed out”.

9. Pressed or Loose shadows? 
I’m not a big fan of loose shadows or pigments, it’s just not my cup of tea. I only use pressed ones.

10. Waterproof or Non Waterproof?
Non waterproof! Waterproof  seems to damage my lashes. I’m not saying, there aren’t good waterproof mascaras out there, but they just aren’t for my taste.

10. Brushes, Sponges or Fingers?
Brushes for my eyes & blush and sponges for applying foundation.

11. Powder, Cream or Liquid Highlighters?
I have a few powder highlighters, but as i don’t use them on the regular basis, it’s not my personal must have. My favorite is the Bronzing & Highlighting face powder duo 10 by Benefit, in case i want to contour my cheekbones in one sexy sweep, i have both ready to use.
