Sunday Pampering – FMSphotoaday Day 26

Hello my Beauties,

today we have Day 26 of the May Photo a Day Challenge and the topic is: “Favorite thing to do on sunday“.
26. Fave thing to do on Sunday: What’s your favourite thing to do on Sundays? Sleep-in? Eat out? Party? Share.

Sunday is that one day in the week, when i really love to sleep in ( i even have the slight feeling, i was a sloth in my past life…).
Besides the amazing wakeup up without the alarm clock, i treat myself with a big bowl full of fruits and berries – similar to what i told you about on Day 7 of this photo challenge. I love to start my free day with something that healthy & delicious.

But what i love the most about Sundays, is my personal weekly ritual, that i try to hold on to, as far as possible.
It’s all about {Sunday Pampering}.
Sunday Pampering bathing salts, facial mask
First of all, i really enjoy a good bath, usually using some kind of good smelling salts.
In this case – a generous gift from a dear fried, who got me the incredible lovely {
Spider Lily Bath Salt from the India Hicks Island Living® by Crabtree & Evelyn}. (Contains moisturising coconut, soybean and avocado oils) $30.00 / 34,00 €

I’ve been a fan of Crabtree and Evelyn‘s ranges for quite some time now (you might know that Wisteria is one of my all time favorite perfumes) – i can’t pass their store here in town, without going in – and the India Hicks range is simply amazing.
I know, it seem pretty expensive for “just” bathing salts, but I see it as a bit of a treat!
Of course any other nice bathing oils or salts would help the relaxing effect, but that’s the one i’m using & loving right now.
Besides, i like how sturdy the packaging is and the little sea shell scoop is a nice touch as well. Brings the beach closer to my bath tub!
Spider lily bathing salts India Hicks Island LivingAnother big favorite of mine for a good pampering session is my {
HydraQuench Cream-Mask} for dehydrated skin by Clarins.
I like to apply a good amount of it right before taking a bath and when i come out of it, i simply remove the excess with a cotton pad. My skin feels so fresh & moisturised afterwards.
I have tried many different hydrating masks on the market and since my skin is quite sensitive, i’m a picky customer. The HydraQuench Cream-Mask is definitely one of a few favorites of mine so far. The feel and look of my skin has improved since i started using it a few months ago. A 75ml tube retails here for 35 €. The 15ml i use right now was a sample from a beauty box.

My current hair shampoo is the {CALLIOPE Rescue Hair Wash for dry & flaky scalp} from the greek brand Fresh Line.
During this cold & rainy weather (yes i feel like we are back in november) my scalp tends to be dry, so i went for an effective solution – a hydrating and soothing shampoo with key ingredients like Tea Tree, Chamomile, Garlic, Neem Oil and Echinacea.
It has quite a strong herbal scent, but somehow i really like it. If also doesn’t foam too much, since it has a lot of natural ingredients in it. The shampoo cleans my hair really well and after drying it doesn’t look flat, what i personally would really hate.
What most important, my scalp doesn’t itch or burn afterwards, but feels really nourished and calmed.
The big 200ml bottle costs around 14,00 € in Europe. The bottle i currently have is a travel size of 75ml.
Fresh line Calliope hair wash, Clarins HydraQuench Cream-MaskI will not talk about my daily shower gel in this post, since i still use the {Yves Rocher Energizing Shower Gel} – Spanish Pomegranate, that i shared with you before.

As you can see i also love burning mini tea candles, while taking a bath. I don’t know if that’s a cliché, but it really clams me down and in this case it’s a {Yankee Candle Bahama Breeze}.
It’s a cool summer refreshment in this tropical blend of pineapple, grapefruit and mango.

After coming off the bath tub, i like to treat my skin with a good body lotion. Along with the Satin-Smooth Body Lotion by Clarins, i use {Kiehl’s Creme de Corps} – rich nourishing cream, that leaves my skin incredibly hydrated. I would say, that i probably like the smell of the Clarins body lotion a bit better, but over all – the Kiehl’s body moisturizer is a solid product. And in a mini version like mine (30ml), it’s a great traveling size for your vacation. A 75ml bottle retails for almost 10,00€ here in Europe.
Kiehl's Creme de CorpsAfter a nice pampering afternoon like that, there is definitely going to be a tea moment! 😉

Beauty Blogger Tag!

Hello my Beauties,

how is your friday going so far? Hope you’ve started making plans for the weekend…

If you follow my blog for some time, you might have noticed how much i like all the fun beauty related tag’s, as it’s a great way to get to know the person behind the actual blog and get a sneak peek behind the curtains.
Today i found another Beauty Blogger Tag over at The Fashionista Observer and decided to share it with you.

Beauty Blogger Tag with Luchessa

   1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight? It’s something in between. Rather straight, but a little curly on the ends.

  1. What’s your natural hair color? A dark brown.
  1. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon? I don’t dye my hair at all, it’s quite sensitive to all the chemical stuff, so i try to stay away from anything, that would make me lose my hair.
  1. Do you wear the same style every day or do you change it? In my daily life i tend to wear same style, just because I have to wear certain things at work.
On the weekends or on special occasion though, i try to work my other – the more fancy side and wear something fun with nice statement jewelry.
  1. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon? I definitely do my own mani and pedi, since it literally calms me down and is so much fun, that i just enjoy taking this time and pamper myself.
  1. How often do you change your nail polish? Mostly ones a week.  It really depends on the circumstances. If i really get into the experimental mood, i change it every 3-4 days.
  1. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer? My toes are painted all year round. Never a bright color. Over the winter some kind of french or pinkish nude and over the summer some light metallic color, that goes with any type of shoes.
    Catrice Just married, Browno Mars
  1. How long does it take for you to put on your makeup? I would say i need my 20 minutes. Even if i’m really quick with doing my whole face, i like to take my time with the application.
And let’s be honest, for special occasions, like a birthday party or a date, we all love to spend like 2 hours trying things out and get the best result possible, right? 😉
  1. What do you do first, face or eyes? I always do my foundation first, along with concealer if needed. Then comes powder, blush and (bronzer or) highlighter. And i do my eyes last. 🙂
  1. Do you “collect” makeup or just buy what you need when you need it? A little bit of both probably. As a beauty blogger i like to stay up to date and see what kind of new innovative products are out there, but i never buy a type of product, that i never use for that purpose. Lately i treated myself with nail polishes only.
  1. How often do you wear false eye lashes? As i have very sensitive eyes, when it comes to “foreign bodies” – that’s why i could never wear contacts – I don’t wear false eye lashes, unless it’s for a photo shooting or a professional makeup session.
  1. Do you do a full face of makeup every day? It really depends on the condition of my skin at that moment. If i feel, like my canvas is looking quite good, i don’t do my foundation or concealer, i just grab my favorite powder and apply some blush for a fresh look. But what i always do is my eyes, since i feel like it makes my face look much more awake. Mascara is a must!
  1. Do you wear makeup when you are home alone, or with family? No i don’t. The only thing i use, is a good face moisturizer and a nice lip balm.
Burt's Bees lip balm, Eisenberg Fluid Cream
  1. Will you leave the house without makeup? I can totally do that, but the thing is, i like playing with my makeup way too much, to miss the opportunity of  putting something on, when going out. 😉 I guess you get the picture.
  1. How many high-end products do you have? I would say i mostly use drugstore to mid-range products, but probably 1/4 of my whole collection is high-end.
  1. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you are getting dressed? I usually plan my special occasion outfits quite a bit, coordinating it by color and style, but my daily outfits are mostly something i decide to wear spontaneously.
  1. How often do you change your handbag? My every day bag goes with almost everything, it’s a versatile one. But when i go out on weekends i like having a small clutch with me, that’s when i change my bags the most.
  1. What time do you get up and go to sleep? When i get up at 7am, i’m usually in bed around midnight, but when i have day’s where i get the chance to sleep longer, i’m not up until 11am and obviously not sleeping until 2am…actually i’m a night owl.
  1. How often or when do you work out? I have to confess, i’m not really a sports person. Every now and then i do some yoga, but it only happens ones or twice a month.
  1. Left handed or right-handed? Right-handed.
  1. How tall are you? I’m a petit woman, around 5’2.
  1. Do you speak a foreign language? I do speak 4 languages quite well, such as German, Russian, Spanish and English.
  2. How many pets do you have? I don’t have any pet’s, but i always wanted a dog.
  1. How often are you on blogger? (or your other blog platform) I usually check my WordPress every day, but post around 3 times a week, sometime even more often!!!
  1. Do you read comments posted on blogs? Yes, i always do, as i love to interact with my readers and fellow bloggers.
  1. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts? Yes i do. I even have a small book, where i write my post ideas down.
  1. How did you come up with your blog name?
I came up with “Beauty expression”, as i like to express myself about all things, that make us women beautiful, and that’s not only makeup.
  1. What kind of camera do you use for photographs? I use my beloved Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7.
  1. How often do you clean your house? Ones a week a little bit everywhere and another time a serious cleaning on weekends.
  1. What is your favorite color? I wear mostly purple, blues and reds in my free time. As i have to wear black for work, i tend to grab a fun color, when i go out.
  1. Do you swear? On rare occasions…you know sometimes it expresses just the best, how you feel…
But i do remind myself to be a lady normally. 🙂
  1. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
After work i like to relax, read the comments on my blog and answer your emails.
In the evenings, a cup of tea and a movie is just the best relaxation for me.

I hope you had fun reading this tag, my Beauties. You are all welcome to do it as well!!
I would like to tag a few of my fellow beauty bloggers and hope to read their answers soon. 🙂

♥ Top hair care products and Featured Bloggers ♥

Hello my Beauties!

Every time i come across a really great product in general, i think – this could be something i should post about.
Somehow this was the inspiration for me to start doing featured blog posts, to give my fellow beauty bloggers the chance to talk about their favorite beauty items, that they consider a must-have. I think we all can benefit from it, as we discover new exciting products to try.

This month i would like to share with you some incredible bloggers and their ideas of top hair care. I hope, you enjoy the articles, that i put together for you!
So get yourself a big cup of tea or coffee (it’s going to be a longer post!) and let’s get started.
Hair treatment products

NualaMakeup, Beauty, Shopping!

My favourite hair care product has got to be the Lush Jasmine and Henna Fluff-Ease treatment.
Lush Jasmine and Henna Fluff-Ease treatment
I was very excited to get an email from Luchessa telling me she’s planning a hair care post on her blog and that she’d like me to share with you guys my favourite hair care product.

This was actually one of the first products from Lush I ever bought and I love it! I found it in my local Lush store when I was browsing around. I quite like the fact that it claims to not make your hair ‘look like a poodle’.

Just to give you a background on my hair: It’s very dry and over processed. I dye my hair regularly (not with bleach though) and have had it chemically relaxed plenty of times. That’s probably not the best thing to do to your hair! I’ve also been using GHD’s on my hair for 10+ years. So as you can probably imagine, my hair is not in the best condition… Anyway I’m always looking for products that will put some moisture back into my dry and damaged hair and that will combat some of the frizziness!

You apply this product onto dry hair and leave it on for about 30 minutes. After that you shampoo and condition your hair as normal. I can honestly say this product has made a massive difference to my hair. I’ve been using this as a weekly treatment and it always leaves my hair feeling really soft and sleek. It’s also improved the condition of my hair and I have definitely got less split ends since I’ve started using this.
One thing to note about this product is that it contains henna (as the name suggests) and it is particularly suitable for brunettes and red heads. Even though it’s got henna in it though, it hasn’t left any kind of redness in my hair. But I perhaps wouldn’t really recommend this product if you’ve got blonde hair.

This product smells a little bit of jasmine but the smell is not too strong. Because you shampoo and condition your hair as normal after using this treatment , you can still use it even if you don’t particularly like the smell of jasmine!

As with all Lush products, the Jasmine and Henna Fluff-Eaze Treatment is hand made and not tested on animals

Well I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post, and thank you again Luchessa for contacting me about it 🙂

Melissa – Pink Lady Beauty

My favorite product –  is a 10 Leave-In Miracle Product

10 Leave-In Miracle ProductIt seems like I’ve spent most of my life trying to find the perfect product for my hair. When I received a free sample of It’s a 10 Leave-In Miracle Product, I finally found it!
My hair is long, wavy, thick, and prone to tangles. Because it is long, I’m also concerned with split ends. It’s a 10 makes ten different claims, and I have to say that they are all true. Since using this product, my hair is healthier than ever and stays incredibly soft in between washes.

It’s a 10 comes in a purple spray bottle and is available in two sizes: 10 ounces (295 ml) and 4 ounces (118 ml).
This is nice for people who don’t want to make the commitment of the larger bottle, as the product is on the expensive side, ranging from $20-$35 USD.
It is not a ‘fluid’ product, but has a creamier consistency without clogging up the nozzle. It’s a 10 also doesn’t weigh hair down or leave it feeling greasy.
As someone who has who has tested a mountain of hair products, this one is definitely holy grail material!

Swartzkopf Got2be Kinkier Double Curling Power Gloss ‘n Define Mousse

Swartzkopf Got2be Kinkier Double Curling Power Gloss 'n Define Mousse

When Luchessa asked me to participate in her featured blog post and write about my favorite hair care product, I was over the moon and very honored.  Hair care isn’t something that I blog about all that often, but after thinking about what I wanted to say and the product I wanted to talk about, I am somewhat inspired!

A little intro into my hair is in order.  I have naturally curly, dry hair.  Needless to say, I have had many battles with my hair.  Every day is a struggle with frizziness, definition, and tangles.  I have an arsenal of hair products at my disposal at all times to tame what my mom refers to as my lion mane.  Some staples in my collection that I am absolutely crazy about are Moroccan Oil, Matrix Conditioning Balm, and LA Girl Sport gel.  But if I had to pick one hair product that I would highly suggest to other girls who have curly hair, it would be the Swartzkopf Got2be Kinkier Double Curling Power Gloss ‘n Define Mousse.

Since I have a lot of hair, I apply about a palm size amount to the right side of my hair and then another to the left side. I apply it while it is still damp and do the traditional scrunch technique.  After that, I either blow dry my hair with a defuser or allow my hair to air dry.  Either way the results are almost the same.

What I found is that this product really does do what the name implies … it leaves my hair extremely glossy and defines my curls. But the true test of a curly hair product is not fresh hair, but day 2 hair and day 3 hair.  For all of you other curly haired girls, you know that you can’t wash your hair every day but by day 3 your hair is either a frizzy mess or a kinky rats nest (mine is the latter).  So what makes this product a holy grail for me is that it holds my style for 2 days, sometimes 3 before I start losing my curl definition.  I’ve purchased about 6 bottles already and don’t see myself experimenting with anything else any time soon!

Thanks again to Luchessa who is so sweet to consider me.  Hope y’all have a great day and thanks for reading!

Best of blog posts – autumn edition

Hello my dear Beauties.

Hope you are getting ready for the celebration, quality time with your loved ones, great food & music and just  lovely relaxing days!
I have been thinking about the community support these weeks, since it’s the season of giving and I decided to do a best of my reader, to share those awesome blog posts with you, that somehow inspired & motivated or just informed me about new and exciting products.
Hopefully you will enjoy as much as I did. Stop by to read these posts and support the amazing bloggers.

Grab a cup of your favorite hot chocolate and let’s get started.
Hot chocolate ritter sport

First there is Nic at Strawberry Blond beauty blog and her great post about the The Best Winter Hand Creams. In general Nic writes a lot of interesting posts about natural makeup and skin care, along with incredibly tempting high end reviews. (She totally got me hooked on the Benefit Away we Glow palette…)
This particular post about her favorite hand creams came very much on time for me, as i was looking for a new winter hand & nail treatments and i think especially with Weleda she got the point for me. This post might be something for you if you’re like me – a hand cream  addict! 🙂
Strawberryblondebeauty                                         Please visit Nic here:    Strawberry Blond beauty blog

My next pick is going to be Nuala at Make up, Beauty, Shopping and her honest review on MUA Heaven and Earth Pallet.
We all are used to see blogger raving about products on the market, that aren’t really worth the hype. In this case Nuala managed to present the pros and cons about this drugstore palette. When i saw the swatches i knew it was the right one to try as my every day tool. I’m a big fan of metallic and shimmery eye shadows, so to see most of the shades in this one being shimmery and the colors from brownish to rusty, i knew it’s going to be one of my next buys. I want to see for myself how good the formulation is and if it’s worth the money. I mean, as Nuala was saying: “for £4.00 you really can’t go wrong”. 🙂                                     Stop by Nuala’s blog:  Make Up, Beauty, Shopping

Third blogger i would like to mentions is Bailey at Making Up the Midwest and her useful Review & Application: Kiss Ever PRO Lashes.
Bailey is a beauty blogger, who also makes youtube videos to present you all the awesome hair & makeup tutorials. I first discovered her blog, before i found her on youtube as well. This lash review made me personally think more about wearing beautiful lashes during the holiday season, as i’m not someone who wears them on a regular basis. But the Kiss Ever PRO kit looked fun and easy – it apparently comes with some funky looking tweezers, as Bailey mentioned: “Unlike a tweezer, however, this applicator has a larger point of contact so that you can press a larger portion of the lashes along the lash line, allowing you to work faster.” And the results spoke for itself, so thank you Bailey for reminding me to be more outgoing with my makeup decisions.                                     Find more beauty post’s by Bailey here: Making Up the Midwest

As all of us bloggers have not only to publish some great content, but make the actual blog look nice & easy to navigate for our readers, i have to mention my smart Donah at and her really useful post on How To: Drop-down List On Your Navigation Bar
As for me, blogging is a whole new world and getting tips and tricks with step by step explication & pictures is a big relief for me and maybe some of you as well. It’s awesome to have a fellow beauty blogger being able to help you with the how to “prettify your blog the easy way” questions. Donah has done a few different posts on this subject, besides all the other beauty reviews and brand presentation.                                              Check out Donah’s blog: Sweetjellybean

My last but most definitely not least blog post pick is a tie between two of my favorite nail design bloggers. (Yes it was very hard to dicide!)
It’s Sabrina at and Amie at
Both of them create fun & season inspired nail art. If you feel like looking for creative inspiration for your next nail project, stop by these blogs and get your polish injection.

One of the best posts Sabrina made was Advent Calender Nail Challenge: Inspired by a Christmas Movie. I loved the detailed drawing of the Grinch so much. It’s definitely a big eye catcher and one of the coolest themes of the holiday season.              You can find more great design’s by Sabrina right here: Polish Alcoholic

Amie loves painting her nails, it’s a relaxing task to her and you can definitely tell she’s having fun from what you see on her amazing pictures. Her last post was one of her best so far ( in my opinion) – a Christmas inspired stamping design in red, green and metallic – Nail Diary #126 I just loved the combination of color & design on her nails. Btw, thanks Amie for reminding me to put China Glaze on my wishlist for the next year. I have to finally try their polishes!                    Stop by Amie’s blog and look for more creative nail artAm1e’s Nail Diary

I hope you all enjoy doing some blog hopping and getting to know these inspiring blogger.
And please share your favorite autumn & winter blog posts with me. Either your own or of the other beauties out there.

My take on: Dry Shampoo

Hello Beauties!

In our modern fast world we often are on the go, busy running to the next meeting or a spontaneous night out. So we always tend to look for products that makes our life’s easier. One of those items that seem to have established itself on the market is the dry shampoo.

Dry shampoos as we all know is mostly a powdered substance that is used to get your hair in better shape, when it is not possible or really practical to use water (camping, on a long flight, lack of time?!) and the good old traditional shampoos.

The concept behind the dry shampoo is simple: removing excess oil from the roots through some type of powder that every homemade or commercial product contains. It can be applied wherever needed and simply removed with a brush or a towel afterwards. That process should allow your hair to look quite taken care of for several hours.

I have used three different brands lately which i want to talk about today.

  1. Lee Stafford Dry Shampoo original for oily roots (50ml)
  2. Batiste Dry Shampoo Coconut & Exotic Tropical (50ml)
  3. Balea Trocken Shampoo – jedes Haar (200ml)  Balea Dry Shampoo – for every type of hair

Lee Stafford Dry Shampoo claims:

We’ve all been there, our hair needs washing and there just isn’t the time… Or your hair looks great but it’s let down by horrible oily roots. Well my Original Dry Shampoo gives you more days from your blow-dry and between washes.

This little spray gives your hair a boost precisely when you need it.
It refreshes, it revitalises, it’s clean hair again Baby!

Lee Stafford was the very first dry shampoo that I have used. Just by looking at the spray I had the impression of a professional and good quality brand.  The metallic look and the way the title & logo are put together reminds me of some other popular hair product labels.

I have to admit I was not impressed with this product at all. First of all the smell is like one of those feet refresher that you might like using during summer time. So definitely nothing I want to smell on my hair all day.
The spraying power is relatively strong which makes it difficult to get less product on your roots one spray at the time. But even by getting a lot of the dry shampoo on my hair, I hardly felt like it was doing anything about my oily roots at all. The hair just didn’t look cleaner than before, nor had i any volume. Besides it was quite hard to get the white powder out of my dark hair. The only maybe good thing was that it gave me a light shiny effect in the end. I don’t think I will be purchasing this product again soon.

The second dry shampoo was Batiste Dry Shampoo Coconut & Exotic Tropical. It claims:

Batiste Dry Shampoo Coconut & Exotic Tropical banishes oily roots, giving dull, lifeless hare the makeover it needs without any water. A quick burst revitalises hair, adds body and texture and leaves it feeling clean and fresh too. No need to worry about skipping a shampoo.

If only the smell would make the difference, Batiste would be the immediate winner. The light coconut scent was a really nice surprise. The spraying power quite manageable, and the consistency less powdery than the Lee Stafford one.
It was easy to rub into the roots and no white sports were left. The only thing about Batiste i didn’t like, there was almost no volume even though it was claimed. But by hair was quite refreshed afterwards and the design is summerly and suitable for the drugstore buyer. This time i wasn’t bothered by having the scent of the product in my hair for a few hours.

Last product that I tried was: Balea Trocken Shampoo – jedes Haar (200ml)  Balea Dry Shampoo – for every type of hair. It claims:

Balea Dry Shampoo is the ideal dry wash for in between. Completely without water and blow-dry. The hair style is totally refreshed and get’s the volume back. Up to 24h extra freshness.

The smell of this german product is very fresh indeed and reminds me a little bit of hair spray. Comparing it to the other 2 products, I have to say it felt a little more wet, if you can use this term in case of a dry shampoo. It needed a little longer to get the product out of my hair and it also left some kind of a mattifying effect. The hair was fresh and clean, but definitelly not shiny or had enough volume for my taste.
Would i purchase it again? Maybe. I’m not sure yet.

In my opinion the Batiste Dry Shampoo Coconut & Exotic Tropical had more plus points to it. A really nice product to have in your purse on the go and definitelly the winner for me.
I think it’s needless to say that a dry shampoo should be used from time to time only rather than on every day basis.

Have you used any of these products or do you prefer creating your own dry shampoo with what you find in your own kitchen, like baking soda or baby powder?
Share your special sectrets with me.
